Sasha Pivovarova For Balenciaga
Alexander Wang cast the spring 2015 Balenciaga campaign in a softer light than in past seasons. The images, which were shot by photographer Steven Klein, feature Sasha Pivovarova wearing looks in shades of pink and lavender. It’s the first time the model is the face of Balenciaga. Wang also brought on new stylist Panos Yiapanis for the shoot. “We chose Sasha for the campaign because there’s something restrained and regal about her, yet she brings a subtle, sultry quality to the image. I wanted to play with ‘multiple Sashas’ and show different facets of her character and different threads of the collection in each image,” explained Wang.
FIT Museum Honoring Lauren Bacall
The Museum at FIT is celebrating the late actress Lauren Bacall’s legacy and legendary style with a new exhibit titled “Lauren Bacall The Look.” The show runs through March 3rd and features looks the Academy Award winning actress wore both on and off the screen. The garments are presented in a way that highlights Bacall’s career and signature style. All were pulled from the 700-plus items she generously donated to the museum between 1968 and 1986.
Neiman Marcus Expanding Digital
Neiman Marcus Direct, located in Dallas, houses the headquarters for the luxury department store’s digital expansion. Here in the Neiman Marcus Innovation Lab, or iLab, new technologies and applications are evaluated, designed and tested. Almost three years ago, Scott Emmons built the iLab and is leading many digital initiatives for the retailer. “Memory” mirrors are popping up in fitting rooms, beacon technology has been used in a few doors and custom-designed “interactive” tables have been placed in a couple shoe salons. In addition, Neiman’s introduced “Snap. Find. Shop.” which lets shoppers take a photo of a handbag or pair of shoes spotted on the street, in a closet, on a magazine page, etc. The app then triggers a search on neimanmarcus.com for the item or one that’s similar. The company is continuing to expand their digital initiatives, putting the technology in more stores and expanding the app’s capabilities. There are also rumors of top-secret projects in the pipeline.
