The Ad Deemed Too Sexy for FOX and ABC

So, this is the ad that has FOX and ABC's panties all in a bunch?

This is the newest advertisement for Lane Bryant which was censored by FOX and ABC for being too sexy. In a post removed from the company's website, they wrote that FOX "demanded excessive re-edits  and rebuffed it three times before relenting to air it during the final 10 minutes of American Idol, but only after we threatened to pull the ad buy."

How? This is even tamer than the Victoria's Secret ads they play every commercial break. But don't you worry, Lane Bryant noticed this too.

"While it's no secret that Victoria's Secret ' The Nakeds' ads are prancing around on major networks leaving little to the imagination, steaming up TV screens and baring nearly everything but their souls, our sultry siren who shows sophisticated sass is somehow deemed inappropriate … Does this smack of a double standard? Yep. It does to us, too," said the original blog post.

So what do you think? Is this a case of Lane Bryant being too sexual or ABC and FOX being hypocritical?

  1. This ad is far less annoying to watch with children than are the Victoria Secret ads. I am much happier having my girls see this lady in the role she plays than seeing the Victoria Secret “sass” role models. I do not want them to grow up thinking that Victoria Secret’s story line is the way they should behave with their bodies. Dressing up in sexy lingerie to meet “Dan” sounds like a far more appropriate story line. And, the Chopin soundtrack is much classier, as well.

  2. This is deemed too sexy???
I find it the most tasteful lingerie commercial I’ve ever seen. Also, the fact that the model is normal sized is also a plus (pun not intended).
    I sense a little bit of a double standard…
    Kudos to Lane Bryant!
