Fashion Through The Ages: The Peasant Blouse – Again!

We were hit over the head with the peasant blouse for spring, and it is still going strong for fall 2016. I remember a favorite peasant blouse I owned and wore in the late 70s. It was black cotton with a tiny blue and white floral print with adjustable drawstrings at the neckline and the waist. It was comfortable and looked perfect with faded high waist wide leg jeans! This Ulla Johnson Blouse (pictured above) reminds me of it! You may be thinking “Oh no, not that look…I don’t want to go there again.” But you don’t have to, because this time around (just as it usually is with fashion) the look is much different

What To Wear Now: Artistic Prints Inspired By Masterpieces

We love a good print, and we might love it even more if it evokes the work of one of our favorite artists. However, prints that are too literal can be complicated to work into one’s wardrobe unless your job title is editor-at-large or gallerist. And while we’ll always adore vintage Mondrian-inspired YSL and Dali-Schiaperelli collaborations, those pieces aren’t accessible for most of us, or even all that wearable for most of us if they were

Summer Transitional Trend: The Fit & Flare Maxi Skirt

While recently shopping at H&M I found a maxi skirt (the black one pictured above) on sale and just had to pick it up! The fit is very flattering because it has a high flat waistband and curved seams that flare out at the hem. I have noticed many of the maxi skirts or Fall ’16 have a similar shape, thus my name for “the fit & flare maxi”. I was elated to find another option to shorts and short skirts for summer and one that transitions so easily for fall

Packing For A Weekend At The Beach

I love a weekend away at the beach, but oddly the packing is a nightmare! I literally can’t stand it. You have to pack so many items “just in case.” Are the evenings cold? You need a light sweater. Are you going out for dinner? You need a cute dress. Then the swimsuits and coverups and the clothes to change in to after the beach? When I see other articles or posts with a bikini, a dress you can use as a cover up and to wear out and, with a hat, sunglasses and a pair of sandals, I say bullshit. Here is what I packed for a 2 night, 3 day trip to the beach

Runway To Real Way: That’s a Wrap! Tie It Up this Summer with Paperbag Waists

How many times in life can we wear things wrapped up perfectly with a nice little bow? Luckily, the latest fashion trend we’re eyeing does just that! Paperbag waists are a fun, flattering alternative to a regular belt this summer, and were a constant fixture at the Spring/Summer 2016 runway shows. And though the S/S ’16 runways were awash with paperbag waists in rich tones, prints and texture, we kept it simple for our summer style round-up, armed with the mission of finding neutral pieces to last all season long.
