See the Lady Gaga Video that Replaced Her at the Mugler Spring '12 Show

The Spring ’12 Mugler show took place in Paris yesterday to a crowd hungry for envelope-pushing, Gaga-strewn perversity. As Lady Gaga’s styist, creative head Nicola Formicheti wanted to incorporate the pop icon’s influence as much as possible; that is, with the exception of her actually being there.
But those Little Monsters who were in distress at the lack of Gaga’s presence needed to look no farther than the pre-show film to find their buck-toothed, pig-tailed Mama Monster in all her multi-colored, f-bomb dropping ridiculousness.  In the film directed by Formichetti and shot by Inez & Vinoodh, Gaga discusses her heart in terms of rainbows, explains she wants to eat people and finally shouts expletives at the Mugler label, eventually stepping aside (or rather dissolving away) to let the spring ’12 collection walk through a smoky, gritty backdrop that resembled a slasher movie set. Innovative? Perhaps. Groundbreaking? Not so much.
The collective opinion following the show seemed one of jaded ennui. That, or thinly veiled hostility. The Wall Street Journal‘s Christina Binkley tweeted, “I have rarely seen so many pissed off people rush out of a fashion show. Mugler. #pfw No new trends there.” Ouch. So perhaps the video was the best of the show. And luckily, we have it right here!
