Ready To Battle Spring and Summer? Get your Cami-flage On!

Are you ready to battle the fashion struggle with all the lightweight cottons, sheer fabrics, lace, cut-out and open back tops of the season? Or maybe these cute little tops are hanging in your closet lined up and ready to be given away because you think your days of wearing sheer are over? Well think again. There’s a simple solution. Get your arsenal of camisoles ready so you can relax and enjoy a bang-up spring and summer! (OK, I’ll stop this war on tiny tops parody.)

I feel every woman needs at least one black cami, one skin-tone cami, and one colored cami. Find a camisole that is thin and long so it will tuck in and not creep up. I prefer to wear it right over my bra (with straps) and wear a black bra under the black cami and nude with the nude or colored cami. If you don’t want the bra straps to show, find a cami that has wider straps that covers your bra straps.

Here’s why you need (at least) these 3 camisoles.

Nina Ricci Cotton-blend Cornelli Lace Top, $950

Nordstrom Lingerie Two-Way Seamless Camisole, $28

With the season’s lace or extremely sheer tops, you need a simple black camisole since we can no longer get away with a tube top showing our midriff like the model above. I like a thin strapped cami with a squared off back to wear under tops like this one.

IRO Maeva Swing Top, $155

Theory ‘Fliore’ U-Neck Stretch Tank, now $82.50

This season’s sheer cottons, eyelets and peasant tops can become G-Rated or office appropriate if you simply slip on a skin-tone cami first.

Elizabeth and James Zane Cutout Crepe Tunic, $345

BP. Stretch Camisole, $12

This elegant cut-out top works for evening but you may like to try a shot of color with your cut-out top or dress for a colorblocked look. A lace camisole is another option. A colored cami is also a solution for plunging V necks and open backs. See? You can keep your revealing tops after all!
