Come on, you couldn’t buy a better metaphor. You know, modern women as pirates out and conquering the world until they walk the plank and take the final plunge into marriage. Or maybe it was a commentary on all the fashion pirates out there– the Forever 21s and the other teen garbage galleries that rip off designers and consumers with their crappy copies. Or, well, maybe Gaultier just wanted to have fun with his spring ’08 collection. Honestly, I’m a fan of dressing to create an occasion rather than attend one and these ensembles certainly bring the party to the party. Regardless of the inspiration I can’t wait to see the ladies walking down Madision in pirate hats or in a mock wedding dress. Shiver me timbers– Amy Ko, Senior Editor
