Outfit Of The Day For June 5, 2013: How To Toughen Up A Frilly Blouse

The best way to take some frill away from a flouncy, floral blouse is to add some edge with clean lines to the rest of your look. It is spring after all, so I felt like wearing this bright floral blouse, but to tone it down I wore it under a black leather jacket and paired it with almost black denim jeans. Just for fun I wore a vintage tassel pendant necklace in pearl and turquoise blue, which is a color that is nowhere at all in the blouse. My handbag adds another pop of color. Don’t be afraid to add contrasting colors. It’s no longer about being matchy-matchy. That went out with the 90’s.
