New York Fashion Week Spring '13 Front Row Fashion: More Celebs! Julianne Hough, Minka Kelly, Kate Bosworth, Stacey Keibler, Jennifer Hudson and More!
The media has been reporting that there haven’t been enough A-listers at this season’s New York Fashion Week, but we beg to differ. How often is it that Sarah Jessica Parker shows up to your runway?? Well, ok, maybe they have a point. When Zac Posen showcased Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova, and Coco Rocha on the runway, only Kelly Osbourne and Natasha Bedingfield showed up. And the paps were so excited to see B-lister Stacey Keibler at Vera Wang, they surrounded her when she arrived. (It’s not George Clooney, people!)
While I’m not so excited about seeing Dancing with The Stars star Julianne Hough or Friday Night Lights’ Minka Kelly, what I have been pretty happy about this season is the amount of “New Yorkers” wearing color in the audience. And I’m talking about celebrities here. All too often, these “New York celebs” (they’re not really New Yorkers, I guess) have been see in boring black numbers (we’re talking to you, Ashley Greene, you did it again this year!) Ironically, this hasn’t been so much the case, save for a few who want to play up the black and white trend of Spring 2013 (Alicia Keys, Stacey Keibler, Bernadette Peters, etc.)
Some of the celebs have been making the rounds (Hailee Steinfeld, AnnaSophia Robb), while others are picking a precious few to sit in on. Whatever the case, these celebs are making a statement–in color, this time!
The cute little mini Carrie Bradshaw, AnnaSophia Robb, has been turning up at many a show, looking candy coated and sweet in lots and lots of color. Not so sure we can see her as Carrie Bradshaw just yet, but we do like her fashion, especially when it brightens our day, as it does here at the Rebecca Minkoff show where she pairs a blue top with a white skirt and neon clutch. Jamie Chung is from MTV reality show The Real World: San Diego and we’re liking her two-toned peplum.
Is Kristen Wiig as A-lister as they come? Maybe. We’re so glad she turned up at Marc Jacobs, though we never quite saw her as a fashionista. Even better though, as we do love when comedians are more than just funny (see transformations of Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, etc.) Wiig looks gorgeous in white and sits next to someone that IS a fashionista – Ms. Rose Byrne, who, ahem, blossoms in her dress.
Lauren Conrad has been a front row favorite this season, showing up at Kate Spade, Tracey Reese, and more. Here at Lela Rose she pals around with Mandy Moore in a bright neon number toughened up by a cool leather jacket.
Another front row favorite –Hailee Steinfeld, who has shown up at every show from Chris Benz to Peter Som to Marc Jacobs, wearing different outfits to each. At least she’s versatile, and can pull off everything from lacey Peter Som, to plaid and polka-dot Marc Jacobs.
Not sure if you would call them A-listers, but these fashionable ladies stand out from the pack. You know wherever Solange Knowles goes, there’s fashion to follow. We love her print sweater and mixing it with black and white is divine. Julianne Hough showed up to more than one show (Carolina Herrera and Theyskens’ Theory to name a few) with a different look for each. Minka Kelly and Ivanka Trump showed us how ladies should wear dresses at Jenny Packham and Carolina Herrera and looked glamorous doing it. Stacey Keibler was a surprise at Vera Wang, but she pulled off the black and white look, even when we were hoping for more color. The show was full of color, she wasn’t, but the dress was fitted, with a nice print and an interesting collar. Go Keibler!
Is it return of the 90s? Maybe. These three stars still look just as good years later and we ant to know their secret. Happy to see Paula Abdul, Vanessa Williams and Daisy Fuentes rocking the front row at Carlos Miele and looking good doing it. The collection was full of animal prints. Can they pull the trend off?
Calling the fashion police! Oh wait, they’re right here! After showing off a majorly dressed down look at Zac Posen (we weren’t too happy), Kelly Osbourne brightens up our day–literally–by wearing this vibrant number. Is it your favorite ensemble of the week? Proving that orange and hot pink DO mix, Kelly Osbourne glows off her pals Melissa and Joan Rivers. Later, she posed with Susan Sarandon and Paula Abdul, also wearing a hot pink skirt.
Fashionable ladies take flight at Prabal Gurung, where Hailee Steinfeld, Allyson Williams and Kate Bosworth looked edgy, but stylish in their digital prints and signature Prabal pieces. While Hailee Steinfeld and Allyson Williams have been all over the shows, Kate Bosworth picks and chooses, only choosing to show up at a select few like Prabal and Altuzarra.
Other standouts include the always fashionable Olivia Palermo, paling around with Nicky Hilton and Corey Kennedy. Then there’s that aquamarine pantsuit worn by Jennifer Hudson! Only she can pull something that bright off! At Elle: Fashion Next, judges Alexa Chung and Erin Wasson took their places in white while Christina Ricci went for bright, floral Valentino. Big like!
Look at those suave and debonair men in suits! Whether sporty, preppy, or classic, European chic, these celebs are showing us that men know how to dress as well as women. Looking put together is always in style. Twilight’s Kellan Lutz is becoming a regular fashionisto, turning up at fashion shows from New York to Madrid and starting up his own fashion line. The All-American sportswear prepster Tommy Hilfiger always knew how to dress men and it shows down below as stars like Gabriel Mann and Josh Bowman look suave in his sporty suits.
We’ve got fashionable hipster rocker chicks in the front row at Charlotte Ronson including Nicky’s sister Paris Hilton, DJ/model Harley Viera-Newton, actress AnnaSophia Robb and other Ronson groupies.
Stars like Michelle Trachtenberg, Katrina Bowden, Lauren Conrad, and yes, Kevin Jonas showed up at Badgley Mischka. The Jonas brother probably went for his wife Danielle, but kudos to him for making the effort. Word on the street was that Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman was around somewhere, too.
Group shots featuring celebrities are what its all about at New York Fashion Week! And when those group shots include Sarah Jessica Parker, you know you’re going to have a good season. What, no A-listers? WRONG! And we’re still waiting for Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren!
