MDLR for Mango, named after the designer himself, will feature t-shirts decorated with precious stones, ribbons, chains jewels, tulle and graphics of horses and rope ranging from $50 to $70.
Moises de la Renta also has his upscale collection in two stores, Ikram here in Chicago and Head over Heels in Menlo Park, California. Though he was not widely known until First Lady Michelle Obama wore his red sheath to a function last year, he is now looking for more expansion, aiming to push his clothing towards an online shopping experience. "Shopping is very much a luxury. People don’t have time to shop.” De la Renta said, also noting that he can do more than half of his business online.
In his upscale collection, 27 looks will be available, including cocktail dresses, tailored jackets, dresses, skirts and pants, priced from $90 to $2,500. De la Renta is also looking to expand his handbag collection, small leather goods and leather jackets. And next on the agenda is tackling fur and jewelry.
“I always think of classic images and the glamorous side of New York. I guess I naturally get that from my dad,” de la Renta said. Some might say Moises might be taking just a little bit after his father… Not that it's a bad thing!
The collection will unveil on April 1. The e-commerce site will launch on his website in May.
