One of my personal favorite Project Runway challenges is the HP/Intel textile design challenge, so I was really looking forward to last night’s episode. It amazes and thrills me how much technology has changed fashion…for the better. I always say had this technology been around when I was headed to college I am sure I would have gone into fashion design. I can hardly draw stick figures, but the ideas in my head have always been there. To be able to create your own textiles I know is a real charge for the designers and when I watch this episode I always think about what I would have created when it comes to creating my own custom print.
For the past six seasons, HP has partnered with the show’s designers to demonstrate the role of tech in fashion and the creative arts. Last night the designers were paired with young innovators from Next Generation Achievers to inspire creative ideas. They then used HP’s innovative, hybrid technologies to create their own original textile designs. The winning designer and her muse would be given their own suite of HP products. I was thinking…pick me! Who wouldn’t want an HP Envy Rove laptop that doubles as a desktop? Um, hello. Or the HP ENVY x2 which is a powerful and ultra-thin hybrid PC with the advantages of two devices in one – a laptop and a tablet.
I’m still in shock Chicago’s Kate was aufed, but such is life in fashion.
