How To Dress 15 Years Younger: Wear Pants Under Your Dress!

Did you ever wish you could just wear a pair of pants under your dress? That way you could hide all of your leg flaws like puffy ankles (if applicable) and not have to worry about wearing stockings? Well now you can! This look from Scoop NYC stopped me in my styling-for-sophisticated-women tracks. I took note and grabbed this picture! You can get away with wearing a sweater dress when you slip on a pair of fluid flare leg pants and your favorite heels. (The model looks so tiny I figure even if I’m twice her size I can look slimmer in this outfit, too.)

The key to this look is to get the proportions right. The sweater dress should hit just above your knee and should be fitted and not over-sized. You may already own a sweater dress like this that fits the bill! I prefer black or dark colored pants for this look, with smaller flare legs that fit smoothly at the waist. Fluid jersey knit or pants with stretch work best – but not cottony yoga pants, please! Slip on a pair of suede pointed pumps or booties and you’re ready to go. A simple cuff bracelet, pendant necklace or scarf will complete your look. Here is an option in case you don’t want to go sleeveless and prefer a lower heel:
