Hot Tranny Mess. Battle of the Catchphrases.

We all know Project Runway season 5’s Blayne is no season 4’s Christian. (Honestly, after last week, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him go home soon.) But apparently Christian’s superfans are worried the blondie is stealing their man’s spotlight, and they are waging media war against Blayne and his ‘girlicious’ phrase. According to New York Magazine, The Daily News has joined the fight as well.

"The paper’s so determined to ensure it doesn’t become the new "fierce" they called up catch-phrase experts to explain why it won’t work: "It sounds strange," says linguist Michael Adams, professor of English at Indiana University and author of "Slayer Slang: A Buffy the Vampire Slayer Lexicon." "It’s got a stunt aspect, and stunt words remain stunt words."

…"Girlicious made me roll my eyes," says Robert Thompson, professor of TV and pop culture at Syracuse University. "It sounded like a self-conscious catchphrase created in the laboratory…Anything ‘a-licious’ has been so done," says Thompson. "It’s so middle school. It’s such an old suffix.""

Yeah, we needed experts to weigh in on that topic, certainly. Clearly ‘girlicious’ has Destiny Child’s ‘bootylicious’ as its predecessor, and we don’t need an expert to verify that… just our iTunes. NY Mag added, and we agree, Blayne wasn’t really shooting for a catch phrase with the word- "We just saw girlicious as the ill-conceived name of one ill-conceived outfit rather than an attempted catch phrase." Yeah that, or he was referencing a TV show and subsequent girl singing group created by the Pussy Cat Dolls, that wear scandalous outfits such as his diaper one-sy thing.

If any catch phrase is coming out of this season thus far, it’s gotta be another Blayne popular uttering (which is also just a well known phrase)- "Holla atcha boy!" You know when Tim Gunn is saying it, that’s where the gold is.

But let’s turn the microscope on Siriano for a sec. Isn’t his claim to fame- "Fierce!"- just something he admittedly stole from Tyra Banks and the judges of America’s Next Top Model? Yeah. So hopefully Christian’s fans will shut up and enjoy this season of Project Runway.
