First of all, we are so lucky to have the beautiful and huge (really big) flagship Sephora on Michigan Avenue. Second, PRO artist Jeffrey English (he will ease your fears of applying makeup) and the whole team of Beauty Advisors in Chicago are truly excellent. I confirm everyone at this store is super sweet, helpful, knowledgeable and they will expertly show you how to look your best! It’s really a lot fum to go in the store and play. Sephora Michigan Avenue offers 20 workshop classes per week on a variety of topics like Flawless Foundation and Winged Eyeliner, mini makeovers daily, and you can even learn about highlighting without setting foot in the store if you download the Virtual Artist App. However, you will want to step into this store! It’s like being a kid in a candy shop!

Since Sephora carries so many brands, the Beauty Advisors will help you find the perfect product that is just right for you, including the brushes to use to apply it properly. I became totally impressed with their own Sephora Collection brand. They have a gel highlighting pallet (which I love) that gives you plenty of options without breaking the bank.
Jeffery showed us how to achieve three looks, the Dewy Glow, the Shimmer Glow and the Holographic Glow. Dewy is a great place to start for everyone, and for different occasions you may like to shimmer or add colorful iridescent glow!
Here are some tips I learned (and many of my questions were answered) about highlighting.
Dewy Glow Highlighting can make you skin look moister and more youthful so it works on aging skin. Concentrate the highlighting on a few high points on the face like the brow bone, cheek bone and inner eye corners. Younger women can enhance more high points and go for a totally lit face! Use the Sephora PRO Dimensional Highlighting Palette, in cool or warm, $42. I think everyone needs one of thee! The colors work beautifully as eye shadows, too!
For Shimmer Glow Highlighting, Jeffrey likes to use Makeup Forever Liquid Stardust. Use it on cheekbones, chin and on eyes for a shimmering Studio 54 look. Layer liquid shimmers with powder shimmer like this tarte Rainforest of The Sea™ Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette Volume II, $42 to complete the look.
Once you get into the glow, you may like to try Holographic Glow Highlighting. Adding multicolor holographic effects may seem out of this world, but the look can be amazing. Try this Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette, $32. It gives you holographic shades in Emerald (green), Saphyre (blue), Amethyst (ultra-violet), and Opal (pink) to play with. Jeffrey’s tips: DO use it all over your face! The color will look more natural if you dust it all over your face than the color in a little patch against your natural skin tone.
Have fun playing, learning and get glowing at Sephora!
