After 20 years selling insurance for a family business, Susan is finally doing what she loves. For four years Susan Farber has been designing stunning Italian leather
bags, one of which is her trademark bow bag . The ‘Piccolo Sofia’
is pictured above.
Sold in over 200 US boutiques and in Japan, Greece and London, this New York based line evolved from a small collection of bags and beaded belts.

I had an opportunity to meet Susan at the Accessories Exhibit Reception under the tents during Fashion Week. She explained how she loves to combine materials in unexpected ways like laundered leathers, laundered patents, fabrics and haircalf to construct her unique handbags, clutches and totes. "It’s important to start with materials you like."
I had to ask, "how did you go from selling insurance to becoming a handbag designer?"
"A friend of mine had begun designing beaded jewelry and I got totally hooked on the beads. Not wanting to compete with her, I decided to make beaded belts and bags", said Susan Farber.
While she still sells beaded belts, Susan has since added leather and fabric handbags to the mix. What’s next? She would like to grow her line to include leather belts and vests.
Celebrities to carry Susan Farber Collection bags include; Sharon Stone, Debra Messing, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Amanda Lewis and they have appeared in several television shows like ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘The OC’.
