It took 14 months but the new Zara store in Madrid is now open. The five story, 53,820 square foot corner location opens today! The architectural factors had their challenges because they were trying to modernize the building but still keep the tradition of the neighborhood and its history. It resulted with the “glass box,” a 25,995 square foot open space featuring natural light, a milky white palette, open display cases with silver/gold tinted metal detailing and metallic fabric between glass panels. The whole ambiance gives the store a glamorous side. Managing director of Elsa Urquijo Architects, Andrés Conde says, “Customers will feel something different here. They may not know what it is, but they’ll feel it.”
