Chanel Spring 2012 Trunk Show at Neiman Marcus on Michigan Avenue
“Spring is in the Air” on the second floor at Neiman Marcus on Michigan Avenue with fashion straight from Paris. The newly renovated Chanel boutique unveiled brand new views of Michigan Avenue, shedding natural light on the extraordinary pieces. Chanel Chief designer Karl Lagerfeld hired internationally acclaimed architect and designer Peter Marino to upgrade the look of the space with luxurious fabrics and chic furniture. The three-month project was worth the wait.
The Spring Collection – Act I features strong statement pieces including the classic leather motorcycle jacket, iconic suiting in cotton poplin, viscose knitwear, and a crested jacket featuring a new interpretation of the CC in gold metallic thread.
The Spring Collection – Act II, titled “Under the Sea,” evokes images of a water fantasy included pastel colors, freshwater pearls, irisdescent fabrics and mermaids. It all reminded me of the Beatles infamous song (one of my all-time favorites) ‘Octopus’s Garden.’ The Sea theme is captured in the shoe collection with jelly sandals featuring a “wet suit” insert for the feet, a scalloped heel on the ‘Mermaid Fin’ pump, and the sea-urchin t-strap sandal. A new version of the sold out ‘Cruise 2010 patchwork handbag’ is on track for selling out, with orders already being filled. A twist of color is displayed in the mosaic embossed and hand stitched CC on the classic patent calfskin handbag. My favorite piece in the collection is an eye-catching dress in fantasy tweed with a chiffon waist inset and a flounce hem in chiffon.
