BucketFeet Opens Bucktown Studio In Chicago

BucktownStudio_Print-9 Last week Chicago based shoe company BucketFeet opened their newest Chicago studio at 1647 N Damen Avenue in Bucktown. The artsy neighborhood is the perfect location for this artist-designed footwear company’s flagship store. BucketFeet is dedicated to supporting emerging artists from around the world and giving them the platform they deserve. Every artist they collaborate with is paid upfront for his or her work and receives royalties from each pair of shoes sold.

The new studio will have exclusive featured events and programming. Original artwork such as hand-designed shoes and limited-edition wall prints are also available. There will be rotating artist installations and take-overs of the space to give it completely different looks. And you can sign up to be a part of BucketFeet’s artist network and submit designs right in the store.

I recently had the opportunity to meet the owners. President Bobby Stephens showed me the flip flops and socks explaining there will be more to come besides shoes! They like to keep the price point accessible so everyone can wear artwear footwear! Co-founder Raaja Nemani explained how each shoe has a story and each artist receives a percentage of the sales. Co-founder Aaron Firestine is the artist of the bunch. His nickname in College was “Bucket” and that’s how the name BucketFeet came to be. The story goes that he wore shoes another artist designed while traveling, and received so many comments and compliments on the shoes the idea of BucketFeet was born.
