Beauty: Mascara Obsession – My 5 Favorites

Top_Five_Mascaras_2013
My obsession over mascara is an ongoing thing. It is actually justifiable because I have the tiniest eyelashes ever! With that said I have tried and tested too many mascaras that claim to plump, lengthen, maximize, curl, volumize…you name it. Yet, most don’t actually live up to their promises. However, I keep trying them – in all price ranges – from $5 to $30 dollars. You name the brand, I have probably tried it. Yes, they can get expensive, but I feel the need to do the research. Here are my top 5 favorites to date!
1. Dior DiorShow Blackout
I have tried many on the list that I swore were the best, and never tried anything else because I just knew nothing could compare, until I heard about Dior Show. Needless to say when I got to the store, there were about 3 or 4 different DiorShows! So, I said what the heck let me try DiorShow Blackout, because it has to be just as good as the original, so I tried. And was I  floored. Not only did it fatten my lashes with its extra large head, but it gave them a rich jet black coating, that emphasized, curled, and made my lashes extra long. I compared it to the regular Dior Show and Blackout won hands down. This is always in my bag…I love it that much!
2. CoverGirl LashBlast Clump Crusher
I admit, while testing products for this year’s Second City Style Beauty Olympics, I always hope to find some new loves, and products you could immediately put in your bag. Well, this mascara is one of them. Clump Crusher is amazing for my next to nothing lashes, and adds so much volume without the clump. I love that it gives it a slight curl, but more so that is gives me nice, thick lashes.
3. Maybelline Great Lash Blackest Black
Okay there is a trend here with all the extra black pigment in my mascara’s, but that is because I like the more defined lash. This mascara has a smaller head on it, but it gets right in the areas that I need. It coats lashes with enough mascara to condition, yet really define, curl and emphasize. I like how the formula is not as heavy as others, and that it feels like the mascara is really being applied. It’s a great less-expensive alternative my regular bank busters, and it provides maximum coverage!
4. L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black

I tried this brand before I tried DiorShow, and was my favorite go-to after a makeup artist friend of mine recommended it. It has a super large head for maximum coverage and gives the batty ‘go get em’ lashes I desire. It  leaves my lashes beautifully defined, and fully covered. The waterproof formula is one of my favorites for my brides.
5. Lancôme Définicils
Last but not least, Lancôme Définicils was the first expensive mascara I ever bought. I almost passed out at the price, but thought to give it a try since I heard so much about it. I first tried this wonderful mascara at Macy’s, and the woman behind the counter assured me this was ‘the one’. So I gave it a try, and she was so right. At the time, I didn’t know what my lashes should actually look like, but I knew after I tried this mascara! I loved how wet it made my lashes look, but also natural and curled. I would say out of all the mascara’s this one had more curling power, but didn’t lengthen as much. That’s OK, because it really lifted my eyes and made them much brighter. The wand head is smaller and skinnier than other mascaras, but it produces beautiful lashes.
