After every annual Second City Style Beauty Olympics wraps I inevitably have some new beauty obsessions. This year one of my new obsessions is illuminators. Not because they are anything new, but because I discovered how versatile illuminators can be. One perfect day, I actually mixed my foundation with a bit of illuminator, and the finish was gorgeous! A tad dewy, yet fresh and beautiful. So, with that said, I had to dig into some of my favorite illuminators to share with you the goodness of glowing skin.
To be honest I wouldn’t say my obsession is great enough to buy any luxury illuminator, but Tom Ford Limited Edition Skin Illuminator in Fire Lust, changed my mind. Yes, that’s right this illuminator is amazing. Inspired by the look of skin bathed in summer evening light, this limited-edition product gives skin a beautiful translucent glow. It has a universal peachy-pink shade that flatters every skin tone, while moisturizing and soothing the skin. It is everything you would want in an illuminator.
If you are a fan or NARS Orgasm Blush, then you will be fan of NARS Orgasm illuminator. I call it liquid gold, as it is worth that much to me. The ‘Orgasm’ shade is a beautiful peachy-pink shade that works on just about anyone. For an amped-up glow, layer this illuminator under Orgasm blush. It’s amazing!
Don’t want to spend much, but want quality? Try, Sonia Kash Kashuk Perfecting Translucent Illuminator. This inexpensive cream/gel formula blends effortlessly for a luminous finish that last up to 12 hours. It has amazing anti-aging skin ingredients including Youth Preserving Bearberry Complex and Raspberry Stem Cell Extract. These agents help protect, repair and prevent aging and smooths and brightens skin over time. You can’t go wrong with this inexpensive find, as the added benefits will far exceed the dollars spent!
Not fond of creams and want an illuminator in a powder? Look no further because Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder is everything you would want in an illuminating powder. Offered in 6 universal shades, this powder covers every shade to create your perfect light. They capture, diffuse, and soften the way light reflects on your skin. Unlike regular illuminating powders, this one uses photoluminescent technology to filter out hard light and refine the appearance of the complexion. They’re perfect for brides who want a glow, but don’t want to appear too ‘dewey’ or shiny. When a soft glow is key, this powder delivers!
Last but not least is Ck One Color Skin Illumnator. I was able to try this wonderful illuminator during this year’s Beauty Olympics. While it was not a fancy illuminator, it definitely added a fresh dose of luminosity to my skin. It was a refreshing, instant highlight to my clean skin, and I absolutely adored the natural looking glow. It’s easy to keep in your makeup bag, to freshen up any makeup look.
