It seems like we were just talking about summer trends, and looking forward to our frolics on the beach. What happened to summer? Fashion Week is knocking on our door, and now we are now talking about fall trends. I can’t say I’m totally happy about tossing my flip flops, but I do love fall and all the new trends that fall brings. This upcoming season I have my eye on burgundy and how to incorporate the color in our makeup. I have always been a fan of burgundy lips, but it doesn’t always seem appropriate for day. However, I have some found some gorgeous plum/burgundy colors that you can work into your routine for day, and some of these colors will take you into night.
Let’s ease into this burgundy thing. Yes, I know it’s not for the faint of heart, but even the most minimalist can wear burgundy. One of my favorite shades that leaves just the perfect amount of color is IT Cosmetics Lip Vitality Flush in Pretty Woman. I absolutely love this lip stain. Yet, it’s much more because it’s a lipstick, lip balm, light gloss and stain all in one product. It makes my lips feel amazing, and I don’t need a mirror every time I need to apply. This lipstick mixes with your body chemistry and provides a beautiful flush berry color. You definitely want this in your bag.
If you want to step it up a notch with a little more color, but are not ready for a bold lipstick try, Clinique’s SuperBalm in Black Honey. OMG! This gloss literally looks fantastic on anyone. This balm wears like a gloss, but not as glossy. It’s very moisturizing, universally flattering, and gives just the right amount of color. From brides to women in the office…this color is beautiful.
Ready to punch it up a little? Why not, you can’t go wrong. Everyone needs that one lipstick that’s not too vampy but delivers a strong punchy color, and MAC Lipstick Yung Rapunxel created by raptress Azelia Banks fits the bill. We hear she is set to debut her new limited edition lipstick, aptly named “Yung Rapunxel” after her edgy alter ego, the same night as Fashions Night Out, during New York Fashion Week! It’s described as “a deep plum, cream lipstick with an amplified, semi-matte finish.” Sounds gorgeous, right?
If you need an all-in-one rich color for lips, try Nars Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu a deep aubergine. This ‘toss in the purse’ and go color is wonderful for effortless color, and stay-put holding power. Because it’s a matte color you get that ‘vampy vixen’ color, but without looking overdone. It’s a gorgeous color to amp up an outfit for night. I can see wearing this with a sleek black dress, and sky-high stiletto’s.
Okay, Okay, let’s take it down a notch. Still can’t get away from your gloss? Then try one that has some of the most pigmented, gorgeous shades in gloss. Yves Saint Laurent’s Golden Gloss in Burgundy Plum. This shade is stunning and will be a color I can see in seasons to come. The perfect blend of plum and burgundy, that’s just a step up from your average red. This is one of the glossiest glosses you will find. The price may a little steep for some, but it is so worth it. You will love it!
