Audemars Piguet Sues Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger could be headed to the courthouse soon, because Audemars Piguet is suing the brand on its watch designs.
The watch line is accusing the notable label and its licensing partner, Movado Group, of “imitating” its Royal Oak watch. It filed a lawsuit last Tuesday, citing trade dress and trademark infringement. Noting Hilfiger’s Eton watch more specifically, the Swiss company said an octagonal unitary bezel with attachment studs, a specific decorative pattern and other designs were “reproduced, copied and imitated.”
“Defendants, without Audemars Piguet’s authorization, intentionally and knowingly have and continue to sell and offer for sale imitations of the Royal Oak watch configuration trademarks,” attorneys for Audemars Piguet said. The attorneys also pointed out they have “repeatedly protested” since April. Movado and Tommy Hilfiger have not responded.
