Summer Sandal Trend: The Flatform Sandal

Thank God Birkenstocks are once again out of fashion (not that I EVER thought they were in nor would I ever be caught dead in them!). What’s the hot sandal that’s equally as comfortable, but not nearly as ugly this summer? Flatform sandals! You get the height of a heel without the discomfort! Win win. Be warned, don’t try to rock the Frankenstein 4 inch flatform. They will look ridiculous on you if you are over 40 (think “trying too hard”). One or even 2 inches is fine. Any more than that should be for your daughter. Wear your flatform sandals with cropped jeans or even a midi skirt.

Must-Have Shoe Trend For Spring: Laser-Cut Footwear

Spring ’16 is a turning out to be a big nod to the seventies – in both fashion and footwear. One trend we are noticing in a huge way is laser-cut shoes. They run the gamut from espadrilles to booties to sneakers, booties, shooties, and everything in between. They are so cool (literally) since they get a little air on your feet in the hot summer heat! Slip on a pair of block heel laser-cut mules to wear with faded flare jeans or try a pair of lace-up flats with a boho maxi dress. So cut yourself a slice and get some laser-cut shoes now.

Cheer For Pom Pom Shoes!

No, you don’t have to be a cheerleader or even 16 to partake in this hot trend. Of all the shoe trends for the Spring ’16 season (and there are many) one I am loving is the pom pom embellishment. I was a sucker for a good bow (in the 80’s and more recently), rhinestones (in well the 80’s again and more recently) and now I adore the pom pom. You need to have a bit of a sense of humor to pull this look off.

An Interview With Handbag Designer Monica Botkier

I remember seeing my first Botkier Trigger bag like it was yesterday, it was at Barney’s in Chicago. I had to have one. So I saved and bought one in black (obviously) and was actually carrying it the night I met my husband. Anyway, I recently had the opportunity to meet Botkier designer Monica Botkier in her showroom and interview…

How to Dress 10 Years Younger: Do These Shoes Make Me Look Fat?

You know it’s true. Some shoes actually make you look heavier than other shoes, and bigger than you actually are! It’s all about proportions and there are so many exceptions to the rules about shoes that I hesitated to bring this topic up. But it is important. You really do need to try on the shoes, boots or booties with…

How To Dress 15 Years Younger: Choose Your Fall Shoes Wisely

My favorite part of fall fashion is shoe shopping! Recently I took a peek at Fall 2015 footwear. One glance and I was reminded how designers often offer variations on similar styles in their collections and, as the years go by, I am truly grateful! When I was younger I looked at some of the alternate styles as “more comfortable” or…
