What To Wear Wednesday: 3 Tips for Dressing for An Outdoor Day Wedding

Parker Dress, Earrings, Clutch Bag
Wedding season is in full swing – but as we all know, no two weddings are alike. The daytime, outdoor wedding is one of the trickiest of them all. Day weddings are tough enough. An outdoor day wedding? Even tougher.
SCS reader Lauren says she was recently invited to a midday, outdoor wedding in Chicago and needs some help figuring out what to wear. Here are a few of my easy tips to keep her chic and weather-appropriate for the occasion:
Focus on Fabrics:  If you’re going to be outside during the hot summer, pay attention to fabrics. You want something that’s light and airy so you’re not feeling overheated with the sun shining down on you. Lightweight fabrics can make all the difference and mesh and sheer details can help keep you cool.
Bring on the Brights: Keep your LBD (little black dress) for a more formal, evening occasion. An outdoor day wedding is a great excuse to wear bright colors – be it in your dress or accessories.
Vary the Lengths:  Instead of a short length or maxi dress, opt for a midi instead. This chic in-between length is great at elongating your frame and perfectly proper for daytime.
Here are the details on my daytime garden wedding look shown above:
Rent the Runway Parker Floral Element Dress, $70 rental
Express Foldover Convertible Clutch, $40
Saachi 18K Gold Clad Rose Quartz Stud Earrings, $30.29
