Welcome to Chicago, Ted Baker!

Ted-Baker-Opening

Known for sharp tailoring and quirky details, it is not surprising that British designer Ted Baker has become popular on this side of the pond. Therefore, we were happy to the see the label's new Windy City themed Gold Coast shop open in late 2010, and even more excited to attend the opening party and check out the new S/S 2011 collection last Thursday night. With bold digital prints tempered with softer neutral accessories, glossy patent bags, and the brand's signature sleek tailoring, these pieces should be making the rounds of the Chicago nightlife scene as soon as the weather cooperates.

Our favorites include a studded blush print clutch, a royal blue frock with sculptural zipper details, ruffled minidresses in red and black, and luscious patent bags in black and kelly green. There is plenty for the men in your life as well – items like crisp linen jackets, textured polos, and stone embellished cufflinks are just a few of the offerings. The shop itself is just as stylish as the clothes, with fixtures designed to look somewhat askew, like they were blown there by some of Chicago's trademark winds.

The party itself was well-attended (in fact, it was difficult to snap pictures with all the local fashionista-types crowded into the store!); if that is any indication, Chicago will be loving Ted Baker's eclectic, contemporary style for months, if not years to come. Visit Ted Baker yourself at 1009 North Rush Street (between Oak and Bellvue).
