Wearable Trends: Wedding Wardrobe Woes Solved!

Who doesn’t love a good wedding? Now that it’s wedding season, I’ll be going to my fair share of them. Honestly, most weddings I’ve attended have been a blast with good food, dancing, drinks and friends! Plus, I’ll use any excuse to get dressed up. One thing that I do not like about wedding season, is the dress shopping! Trying to find the appropriate dress and decide what to wear to a wedding can be a challenge. Black tie, semi-formal, beach wedding, barnyard wedding – there are so many different themes, it’s almost impossible to repeat the same dress twice! So you buy what you need and then have said dresses sit in your closet, almost never to be worn again.

I think we should take back wedding season for ourselves and commit to buying attire that we actually can and want to wear again! Not all wedding guest attire has to be beaded, lacy or too specific to ever wear outside of a reception. Don’t be afraid to opt for a floor length, whimsical piece like this DVF floral silk slip dress, which is perfect for a garden wedding or a Sunday brunch with your friends or family. Or this Susana Monaco one shoulder dress, can double as workwear if you add a blazer and pair of comfortable pumps.

Just remember, you don’t have to feel like you need to get a special dress to attend a wedding. Yes, we want to look beautiful and occasion appropriate, but do you really want to it at the expense of wasting that money on a dress you’ll never wear again?

When looking for something to wear to your next wedding event, make sure to first think to yourself, “How can I incorporate that into my current wardrobe?” Would you be able to dress it down with your favorite denim jacket and crisp white sneakers? Can you pair it with some flat sandals or even leggings to use as a convertible piece for your next road trip? Be creative this wedding season and make sure your dress choices will once again see the light of day!
