Wearable Trends: Lighten Up with Cool Denim for Summer

I think we all know by now the old school approach to fashion has gone out of the window. So as we stray further and further away from those old ideals because the new school way of fashion has taken hold. Denim has always been viewed as a sturdy, warm and go-to standard for casual dress, however this season’s denim has made a transformation into a lightweight, crisp and breezy version of itself and has become the perfect Spring/Summer 2016 look.

Now that your denim doesn’t have to be thick, itchy and sweaty, it really can be a year around staple. Walk through your favorite store this season and you’ll find lightweight and airy pieces made from denim fabric that can be comparable to linen and crisp cotton. This makes it much easier for you to rock an all denim look this summer like your favorite style icon (we’re looking at you Kate Hudson!) and remain comfortable and cool.

I personally love a lightweight pair of denim culottes or wide leg slacks. They give the illusion of a beachy and effortless look without looking like you just stepped off a cruise ship. Keep it simple with your most comfortable wedges and a simple ribbed tank paired with a vibrant necklace. Or invest in my all-time favorite piece: the chambray shirt. Pair it with some pop-of-color ankle pants and ballet flats or wear it like a “jacket” as a third piece or over a sundress with some flat gladiator sandals and you’re good to go!
