Wearable Trends: Fierce Floor Length Gowns

Believe it or not, we are full-on into the holiday season. It came quickly this year, and most of us are looking forward to the inevitable holiday parties and other events that are starting to fill our calendars. This could be an office party, friend’s gathering or even a wedding. Dressing to impress is a must and the holidays are synonymous with sparkle, flash and fancy dress. The trend I want to talk about this month is a little bit of a wild card, but works perfectly this time of year. How do you feel about floor length gowns?

Floor Length GownS

I personally love a floor length gown. Even though I don’t necessarily have many (if any) occasions in which to wear one, there is something about them that drips glamor. I’d jump at the chance to make a grand entrance in a room wearing a sweeping floor length gown! Frankly, I’m quite envious of any of you ladies that have a glimmer of a chance to rock one this season. Longer lengths were on the runways in the form of midi and maxi skirts and dresses, with absolutely breath-taking designs from some of our formal wear favorites like Marchesa and Carolina Herrera. What’s most exciting about this trend is the colors that I’ve seen. It’s no longer, just basic black (which of course is still elegant) but bright turquoise, reds and even prints and patterns. Add to that, a plethora of fabrics like lush velvets, floating chiffons and bold brocade designs and I’m drooling!

How To Wear The Floor Length Gown Trend

One must be a little self-aware that this is the way to go for a formal occasion if you are interested in the floor length trend. But, once you identify that this is the right option, just go for it! Floor length gowns come in all silhouettes, but something that gives you that hourglass shape is the most flattering by far. If you want to show some skin, opt for a strapless one like this beautiful, red Solace London gown. Pair it with a fur wrap or cashmere pashmina to keep warm (and fabulous!) Or if you prefer a little modesty, try this Self Portrait Guipure Maxi Dress. In my opinion, any woman should jump at the chance to feel beautiful and classy in a floor length gown, and now is the perfect time!
