Wearable Trend Alert: The Tunic Sweater

Tunic-Sweaters-Runway-Tess-Giberson-Thakoon Addition-Mara-Hoffman My favorite season is here: sweater season! And with sweater season comes a plethora of options that fit every personality. However, one of my favorite silhouettes, and the one that I want to highlight this month, is the tunic sweater. They no longer sit at the bottom of our drawers, only to serve as a cover-up to hide those last few pounds we are trying to lose. Tunic sweaters are out and proud this year and a prominent staple for Fall/Winter 2015. Yes, I love how it can still cover up those bits and pieces we may not want the world to see, however with the highly stylized and lush versions available, it’s not just about concealing. Tunic sweaters are about being comfortable and sexy and owning your style. Pairing this long and sometimes oversized sweater is a no-brainer. It’s all about the proportions you feel comfortable with. They go just as well with the ever-popular skinny jeans and leggings as they do with the currently trending flare jeans and wide leg pants. A longer and slimmer version works best with trousers and flares, while a boxy wide version works well with skinnies. Tunic sweaters are a classic style and definitely worth the investment. Cashmere and cashmere/wool blends are plentiful and will last you a lifetime if you take care of them. I know it can be safe to go with the classic black, but try to mix it up a bit and go with cream, pastel or even a bold print or color block style. Once you get a few good pieces that you fall in love with, you can practically live in them without losing any of your fabulous personal style!
