The Creation Of A Fragrance – Maison Francis Kurkdjian Visits Chicago

maison-francis-kurkdjian-paris-at-lunch2 Maison Francis Kurkdjian visited at Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue recently and I had the wonderful opportunity to meet him and learn more about what goes into designing a fragrance. You may or may not recognize his name but he has created a stunning line up of well-know fragrances including Le Mâle by Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab Le Parfum, My Burberry, Nina Ricci L’extase and Narciso Rodriguez for her to name just a few. Popular favorites from his own Maison Francis Kurkdjian collection are Aqua Universalis forte, Aqua Vitae forte, À la rose and OUD satin mood. maison-francis-kurkdjian-paris-Bottles Kurkdjian explained and allowed us to sample three scents that make up his newest perfume creation, Baccarat Rouge 540. Ethereal facets of jasmine and saffron carry the ambergris mineral notes and woody tones of freshly-cut cedar that make up this NM Beauty Award Winner of 2016. I had to ask him how he can recognize and distinguish fragrances when he creates one. He said it is not about having “a good nose” but it is in his brain. It is truly amazing and definitely an art. Watch the creation of Baccarat Rouge 540 in this video. Kurkdjian believes fragrance should be everywhere in your life, and like a wardrobe you may wear heavier or lighter fragrances. He has lighter scents for your summer t-shirt and jeans and deeper scents for wearing leather. He even offers laundry detergent and softener, scented leather business card cases even bubbles for children (as well as big children) to play with and be immersed in luxurious fragrance!
