The Best Under $100 Sneakers for Spring

The last time I did inventory in my shoe closet, I think I counted about 30 pairs of sneakers! I’m a long time sneaker collector, so naturally I am always on the hunt for a fresh pair of kicks, especially if they are limited edition. Recently I snapped up a pair of limited edition Reeboks after hearing they collaborated with my favorite interview style YouTube show Hot Ones in five minutes! I can’t wait for the world to get back to a little more normalcy so I can wear all my favorite shoes again. In the meantime, I’ve rounded up the best sneakers for spring under $100!

Sneakers That Make a Statement

For those of us who like to make a statement with our accessories, these limited edition Adidas Stan Smith sneakers are a relevant twist on a classic, beloved shoe. They cleverly tie in ‘clean shoes’ and ‘clean earth,’ and are a vegan version of the sneaker, made from recycled materials. They feature a cool design on the tongue, a paint splatter type effect on the sole and a slogan reminding all of us to work together to be a little more green.

If you’re looking to make a subtle, tongue in cheek statement, take a page out of Kamala Harris’ style book and sport a fresh pair from Converse. This limited edition pair features a cool digitized crocodile print.

A Fresh Take on Classic Styles

I love when brands like Puma and Reebok release fun, colorful versions of their classic sneakers. It really freshens up your outfits! This vibrant pair of sneakers from Puma features a colorful take on their classic stripes and the back features an eye catching design that pulls colors from different country’s flags all over the world. For those who like a simple, clean sneaker, Reebok released a feminine version of their Club C shoe featuring a light pink accent color and cool design on the tongue.

For a sneaker collector who has a penchant for artsy shoes, Puma released a limited edition version of the Clyde sneaker paying further tribute to basketball star Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier. The pair is decked out in ‘Clyde’ script and has gold accents. Note, the sizes available on this particular shoe are men’s, so you should order 1.5 sizes down from your usual size. Here’s our guide for wearing men’s shoes when you’re a woman.

Simple Canvas Sneakers for Spring

I love Vans and have eight pairs! They are wonderful shoes for warmer weather because many styles are canvas and you can pair them with a range of outfits, from sundresses to midi skirts. Vans recently released their classic shoes in fresh new colors for spring, and this bright “golden nugget” shade lends a pop of color. The company is also partnering with small businesses and venues across the country affected by the pandemic by selling limited edition shoes and merchandise. The proceeds directly help those restaurants and music venues and their employees. Shop Vans to support small businesses here.

Retro High Top Sneakers

For those looking for a throwback style, consider some retro high top sneakers. This style of sneaker pairs well with skinny jeans and a casual top or sweater. I tend to wear my high top sneakers in the early spring and fall, when the weather is still a little chilly. Continuing my affinity for Vans, the new Sk8-Hi colors are actually pretty sophisticated. I love this sage green colorway.

For Nike fans, the Blazer shoe from the 70’s and 80’s is available today and is known for its bold, old school branding. It’s available in eight standard color combinations and for an extra $20, you can explore additional styles and customization.

Versatile Running Shoes

If you are into working out or jogging, a versatile running shoe is always a worthwhile investment. This running shoe from Nike is more affordable than a lot of their other pairs, and comes in four color combinations. I like the simplicity of the white and silver pair. I think these would look just as good running errands as they would in the gym.

Tips for Buying and Maintaining Your New Kicks

  • A lot of brands sell unisex sneakers, so double check the sizing before you purchase!
  • Since most of our shopping is done online these days, take the time to read the reviews. See if a particular pair runs small or large. It definitely varies from brand to brand.
  • Since we are still in a pandemic, wear your new sneakers around the house to break them in.
  • Protect your sneakers from dirt and rainy weather by spraying them with fabric protector.
  • This is a no-brainer, but clean your sneakers regularly! I use Tight Wipes, available on Amazon.
