The 72nd Annual Golden Globes: Amy Adams, Kate Hudson, Lupita Nyong'o, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Amal!

Fashion for The 72nd Annual Golden Globes Whether it was Julianne Moore‘s jaw-dropping metallic feather number or the way George Clooney made the whole room blush when he thanked his new wife Amal, the 72nd annual Golden Globes once again gave us all something to talk about. And the red carpet…well it certainly left us satisfied and hungry for more. From Lupita’s floral bodice to Rosamund’s unique cutouts, here were the trends direct from the 2015 Golden Globes red carpet. Best Dressed Two stellar hosts – two amazing trends on the red carpet! Tina Fey & Amy Poehler pulled out all the stops – showing up in a tea-length gown (Fey) and long sleeves (Poehler.) Of course, they had costume changes throughout the night but how can you say no to hilarious hosts who happen to be supremely stylish?

A slew of showstoppers rounded out the evening in trends that included everything from incredible colors to draping, pleats, cut-outs, feathers, sequins, metallics, crop tops and more. And yet, fashionistas like Amy Adams, Naomi Watts, and Katie Holmes stood out from the pack. Here were the best dressed of the evening:

I know people were asking this about JLo but…does Helen Mirren ever age?

Give it up for Lupita to look stunning as usual – and yet, completely different from everyone else out there.

Minimal, subdued, but the cut on Katherine’s figure is fantastic.
Melissa McCarthy Golden Globes 2015 DIY dress

I want to say it’s the weight loss, but it’s not…this is the best Melissa McCarthy has ever looked. Not sure if you all agree, especially when you find out that Melissa actually chopped up pieces from her closet to make this DIY dress, but I really think she looks fabulous.

A bit stiff with the side part but otherwise this works.
Katie Holmes in Marchesa

The draping on this Marchesa gown is stunning and Katie Holmes is a clear winner in my book, even though she wasn’t up for any awards. I’m not sure if the slicked ponytail did anything for the neckline of this gown, but the color and silhouette are stunning.

Leave it to Emma Stone to take a big risk and come out winning. More trends coming this way… Striking Metallics

If you thought Julianne Moore was enough, well then you didn’t see Dakota Johnson mesmerizing all of us in this strapless sequin number that took firm hold of her sex appeal and one of the biggest trends of the night!

Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein
Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein
Reese Witherspoon always looks stunning in Calvin Klein. This is the second year in a row she’s worn the designer — but whatever it is, it’s working. Also, it’s a completely different look from last year’s column which was an aquamarine color.

Somehow, the cleavage isn’t as dramatic as it was back when JLo wore that green Versace jungle dress to the Grammys. Still, many were wondering how the 45-year old stays so ageless. If you want to know my opinion (which you probably don’t, but I’ll give it to you anyway) I think she has aged in the course of a year and her makeup is too severe. Also the blond washes her out. Thoughts? Showstopping Colors & Pastels

I know that most have a love/hate relationship with this dress, but I personally loved it.

For me, this isn’t Kerry Washington‘s finest moment, but kudos on the risk-taking.

Everyone was so surprised to see Claire Danes in Valentino, because she’s so prone to wearing Calvin Klein or something minimal. I don’t love this dress, but I do like that she surprised everyone.
Lana del Ray in Travilla

Lana del Rey had Little Mermaid references coming at her all night – what with this sea-foam green pleated number and the style of her hair. Still, it was a showstopper!

I love that Julianna Margulies picked Ulyana, a designer that does amazing work but is still making a name for herself. Love the tea-length, love the red but DO NOT love Julianna’s updo. It makes her face look old and taut.

Rosamund Pike in Vera Wang
Kudos to Rosamund Pike for showing off her post-baby body! In that respect, she looked amazing! Still, this Vera Wang number failed to impress even with those impressive cut outs. I think it had something to do with her breasts sagging just a bit. No JLo breast tape here! Best Dressed Couples Which couple dressed best this evening? And which one looked extremely awkward? Who knew Camila & Jenna would wear similar dresses? Who knew Keira‘s husband was as “unique” and “awkward” as she was? Who knew Jennifer Aniston would wear Saint Laurent? Who knew David Oyelowo and his wife would match? And who knew Amal would wear those gloves? (And that button, of course.)

Best couple of the night – hands down! And yet, Amal doesn’t overpower her hubby (or anyone else) with too much fashion. She’s subdued, sophisticated, and lets George have his night. And the gloves…well she tried!! I like it. – Simona Kogan Photos: eOnline, People.com
