We’re With The Band: Summer-Friendly Festival Fashion

Festival season is here! With the Summer Equinox behind us, the only things on the horizon are street fests, food fairs and outdoor concerts as far as the eye can see. With a jam packed calendar for the next 3 months, the biggest (and really, only) question left to be asked now is: what to wear? We found some of the best summer-friendly festival fashion you will wear again and again.

From Runway to Real Way

Our inspiration for our summer concert style came straight from the S/S ’17 runways, which spanned the gamut from festival freaky to downright rock n’ roll goddess. Luckily, even if the days of tailgates and late night college concerts are behind us, we can still dress the part of “Band-Aid”, in a much more chic and elegant way.

Denim, leather, lace and grommets seemed to be the headliners at this season’s festival fashion lineup. Tight jeans and embellished denim tops crowd surfed down runways like Coach and Rodarte, and we couldn’t wait to find our own version to move and groove in. The dark wash and flirty lace-up front in Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren Denim Dress channels enough cool girl chic without having to go the ripped jeans route.

Statement shoes are a must for any concert; and we say a heel is essential, if for no other reason than to save you from sinking into the fairgrounds. Since booties are seasonless, we decided to ditch the sandals and slip on a show-stopping pair that resembled the chunky heels all over the runways. This pearlized ankle boot with a metallic heel from ASOS not only says “VIP Lounge, please”, but comes with a price tag that can easily be replaced, should they get ruined in the dance party.

Another big hit on rock n’ roll runways this season was graphic tees, a universal staple of the concert-going world. There’s still ways to get in on the fun of this trend without risking looking like you’re wearing your children’s clothing, thanks to labels like Calvin Rucker. His slim, slouchy and totally flattering tees can be cinched, tucked or worn loose, while still making a major “rebellious” statement.

And finally, no concert-crashing, fabulous festival fashion would be complete without a leather jacket. Depending on where you are all summer, this staple may be a bit too warm to stay on all night, but think of it as the layer you cant live without by the end of the second encore.

Almost all the standout runway looks included some kind of patterned, printed, or embellished jacket, but we opted for a collarless, supple confection from Sandro that will undoubtedly see the light of day all year long. Rock on, Fashionistas!
