Runway To Real Way: It’s Black And White – Fall is Finally Here!

The first nips of fall are in the air! And while the weather may still be confused as to what season it is some days (80 degrees in October!), it’s pretty “black and white” fall fashion has officially arrived. That’s why we saw no better way to usher in the season than by showcasing some of our favorite Fall 2016 runway trends with one of our all time favorite color combos.

Two-tone: Find the ying to your yang this season with one of the various two-tone statement pieces that came down the Fall 2016 runways. Sophie Theallet conjured up some whimsical confections that paired delicate white lace with more structured black sheaths. We loved the contrast of the combo and found the perfect transitional piece from warmer days to cooler nights in this Contrast White Flounce Dress for an unbeatable price. Dress it up with chunky baubles now, and pair it with tights and flats for when the cool weather finally sets in.

Ruffles: Who says the warm weather seasons get to have all the fun? Fun and flirty details punctuated many of the Fall 2016 runways, including embroidery, lace and plenty of ruffles. To avoid a too youthful look, (or dressing like a pirate when it’s not Halloween), we like keeping the embellishment to one area, like the sleeves. Brandon Maxwell‘s ruffled-sleeved sweaters were dramatic while never straying from sophisticated. We liked the similarly quiet style of this Exaggerated Sleeve sweater. Enough of a statement to turn heads, but not for the wrong reasons.

Logo: More and more designers infused street style and logos into their Fall 2016 collections. Some, like Alexander Wang, made the cool kid style the theme of their entire runway show. And while we appreciate the gesture, such bold statements may not be the most appropriate for everyday. For a sporty or weekend look, we chose this logo sweater from Kenzo, an almost artistic take on the logo without blaring a brand name. And the long-sleeved lightweight knit would definitely be something we’d live in until spring.

Fur: There couldn’t be a fall trends round up without a nod to fur. Some designers, like Yigal Azrouel played with shape this season and pattern this season, choosing cropped styles and black & white motifs for their outerwear staples. While we love the cropped jacket style, we need a new manteau in our fall/winter wardrobe so chose this affordable black & white one with a fur collar for a versatile option to dress up or down.
