At the risk of sounding cliche, it’s finally relevant to say this: Winter is coming. Labor Day is almost upon us and soon the days will get shorter, the temps will get lower and we’ll be hunkering down for a long winter’s nap. But until then, we still have fall to look forward to and with it, the undeniably hottest color to hit the runways last season: RED. Don’t call it a comeback folks, but the fiery hue was front and center at NYFW last season and will behitting the pavement as hard as the September issues. Here we’ve rounded up some of the best ways to channel your inner Lady in Red. Red is here for fall 2017.
HOW TO WEAR RED For FAll
The first thing one needs when when sprucing up their fall wardrobe is a new piece of statement outerwear. There’s no better way to hop on a trend bandwagon than through a fab new coat, jacket or blazer, many of which can be found without breaking the bank. Emporio Armani trotted out classic and sophisticated lines in bright crimson that had us running to the racks for our own. The budget-friendly trench in a similarly standout hue at H&M will be perfect for those splashing through upcoming fall showers.
Another staple that you can run out and grab as soon as the temperature starts to drop is a chic and versatile pair of pants. We usually stock up on our regular batch of neutrals, but fon’t wait to mix things up this season with at least one pair of brick-colored slacks. Oscar de la Renta kept his slim-fitting and cropped, while we opted for a flowing silhouette and split front, but no matter how you slice it, the fire engine pant will be turning heads all season long.
Who says you could ever have enough fall dresses? Not us! Thicker fabrics and longer hems and jeweled embellishments, oh my! We simply adore the transitional period of summer to fall dresses and this Alice + Olivia frock will be topping our list this year. Flouncy, flirty and flattering, it’s tasteful with a hint of femme fatale in an undeniably sexy scarlet style.
Your fall wardrobe shopping list is almost complete, with one more major fashion milestone to “boot”. Tall, short, leather, suede, velvet, embroidered — the list goes on and on. And to that we say, one of each please! The show-stopping Fendi thigh high confections in bright red leather, as drool-wrothy as they might be, are admittedly not the most practical option for the day to day, girl on the go schedule. So we cranked the length down a little lower, added in buttery soft suede and slapped on a chunky metallic heel for these beauties made possible by Proenza Schouler.
