How to Wear The Latest Pattern Trends Of 2021

We love our solids and other neutrals, but there’s nothing quite as fun – or as versatile – as a great pattern. And with spring right around the corner, it’s definitely time to update your wardrobe with some fun and colorful patterns. Plus, not only is a patterned dress or top a statement piece in and of itself, wearing your favorite prints can brighten your day and add some visual interest to your solid and neutral pieces. We took a look at the latest pattern trends of 2021. Accordingly, here are some of our favorite fashion prints for spring 2021 and beyond.

Fashion Pattern Trends of 2021

Snakeskin

We adore a great pair of snakeskin shoes, and these classic black and gray almond toed Marc Fisher ankle boots will work right now, in the spring, and basically forever. We suggest pairing them with blue jeans and your favorite black or jewel-toned top for a perpetually chic look. Prefer sneakers? Kenneth Cole has some great snakeskin options right now, including these black and white ones with a hint of citron yellow.

Zebra

Black and white are always nice, but we also like variations on stripey zebras like this gray on gray subtly sequined scarf from INC International available at Macy’s. It’s an excellent way to add some sparkle and warmth to any ensemble.

Jacquard

These densely patterned woven prints may be floral, abstract, or inspired by traditional silk scarves, like these jacquard joggers by Melyssa from Anthropologie. They are just as comfortable as your basic sweats thanks to an elastic waistband but much more sophisticated!

Tropical Florals

Every spring and summer, tropical prints pop up on swimwear, maxi dresses, and similar items – but tropical hues and palm leaf prints shouldn’t be limited to resort wear. Something like this chiffon kimono from PINKMSTYLE via Amazon might make you feel like you’re on vacation this spring, even if you are only hanging out in your backyard.

Paisley Bandana Print

A good bandana print is always in style, and this Demeter Paisley tee from Anthropologie is an elegant variation on the typical bandana scarves. We’d love it with boyfriend style denim or skinny cropped pants, and the pattern would look excellent on Zoom. Want to add a subtle bit of paisley to your outfit? Throw on a colorful pair of socks like these from K.Bell via Amazon.

Lace

We’re loving this sweatshirt with a lacy yoke from Express. All the comfort of a sweatshirt paired with all the refined femininity of lace might make it the ideal piece right now. Besides, all the detail at the top will look great on video chat and eliminates the need for anything else but some stud earrings and a great shade of lipstick or a bit of eyeliner.

Space Dye

The logical progression from tie-dye prints clearly has to be space dyed pieces. As tie-dye’s more sophisticated cousin, space dye involves dip-dyed yarn that is then woven into garments. You might recognize it in high fashion form since it was popularized by Missoni and other luxury Italian brands, but now it is available at all price points.

This not-quite-neutral space dye sweaterdress from Ann Taylor Loft is a great cozy piece to wear while working from home (or curled up on the couch watching Netflix) but it can also go out into the real world with ease.

Camouflage

While camo prints have been trending for a while, there are some great options available right now, such as this green and black camo sweater coat from White House Black Market. It looks perfect when thrown on over leggings and sneakers, also you can tie the belt in the front for a cinched waist or loop it through and let it hang loose, or tie it in the back for a forgiving open duster silhouette.
