Pajamas for Day Versus Pajamas for Night

So by now, we have all probably exhausted the depths of our athleisure collections and are sick of our sweat suits – especially if you’re working from home, or home schooling, or otherwise stuck in the house! We think it’s important – nay, essential – to switch things up from the pajamas or clothing you wear to actually sleep and the stuff you’re wearing during the day, even if you don’t feel like you have much of a reason to change outfits. Differentiating between pajamas for day versus pajamas for night is important to our sanity right now!

Pajamas for Day Versus Pajamas for Night

Daytime “pajamas” should have a little more structure and you should be able to answer the door in them if necessary. On the contrary, night time pajamas should be exclusively for the bedroom, although they don’t really need to be sexy unless you want them to be!

Day Pajamas

So while we don’t necessarily want to wear structured clothes while we’re chilling at home, we probably all still all want to look nice on Zoom calls or when we are answering the door for Instacart delivery or whatever else. Think of an up-scaled version of athleisure and you’ve got the idea!

Banjamath Women’s Peacock Print Aladdin Harem Pants, $15.95

“Good” Sweat Pants

Put away the gray sweats and get yourself something colorful. We are fans of these harem pants available on Amazon – they are super colorful and will make you feel like you’re on vacation. We like this black and gold pair but there are tons of options for under $20 available on Amazon so take your pick.

High Leopard Print Pleated skirt
Chartou A Line Leopard Print Pleated Midi-Long Skirt, $21.99

Long Skirts

A long flowy skirt is arguably more comfortable than sweatpants or leggings, and can help you feel more like you are actually getting dressed. And they look great with a fitted tee or tank now that it’s getting warmer. We love these inexpensive midi-skirts from Amazon, especially the leopard version.

Night Pajamas

These should be things you wouldn’t necessarily wear on a Zoom or Skype call with colleagues, or to answer the door for a delivery person. Rather, they should be something comfortable or even a little sexy depending on your mood.

PJ Salvage Lace Racerback Jersey Chemise, $50

Slip Dresses

A little slip like this lace racerback from PJ Salvage is a great piece that you can use to relax in once you are done with working from home for the day. This Midnight Bakery piece from Nordstrom is another wonderful choice and the floral pattern could be remarkably flattering on a variety of figures.

Blue Ombre Wrap Robe

Gorgeous Robes

Sometimes just chilling in a beautiful robe after a shower or bath is exactly what you need, and this In Bloom Alison ombre robe is perfect for that and we love the turquoise and white combo – it feels resort-worthy but it is also super comfy to wear at home.

Soma Cool Nights Short Sleeve Notch Collar Pajama Top, now $29.99 and Pajama Pants, now $29.99

Menswear Style Pajamas

Soma’s Cool Nights collection is great in general, and we particularly like this ivory and black animal print pajama top and pants for warmer nights. It’s the perfect neutral in general, but also pretty forgiving during sheltering-in-place when we may be eating more carbs than usual.
