The shoe gods have finally heard my prayers. Flats are finally the shoe of choice. Major shoe designers are hopping on the bandwagon, like Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik so I feel vindicated. I knew it was only a matter of time before women (and our feet) were going to rebel.
This month I’d like to talk about one of my favorite fashion topics: shoes! More specifically a spring shoe trend that has completely dominated the season, the lace up sandal. I consider this trend to be an updated and more refined spin on the gladiator sandals that we couldn’t get away from a few years ago. For 2016, the laces are delicate and thin, feminine and much more universally flattering than earlier versions of this trend.
I believe everyone is long overdue for a day of relaxing on the beach, in the warmth of the golden sun, soaking it all in without a care in the world. Well, if I had my way, we’d all be spending at least one day per week in 85 degree weather on some sandy shore. We all had a rough(ish) winter season! Unfortunately, some of us live everywhere but California so such a scenario isn’t really feasible. That’s okay. We still have a chance to get the West Coast look with some key clothing, accessories and beauty items.
To know me is to know I am all about eye creams. I have been since I was 20. The thicker, the better. Yet, even between Botox treatments I have noticed some disturbing lines when I smile. Well, I’m not giving up smiling and am in need of some Botox – so those pesky lines and eye sag have got to GO! STAT. Here are some new eye creams I have recently tried that are all worth a mention to help fight the fight! Anti-aging is my jam.
I love stripes, I really do and while I am thrilled they are once again back on trend for spring, I am intrepid. Why? Well most stripes just are not that flattering. I always love a menswear inspired or boyfriend blue and white stripped shirt, but that’s because the lines are usually vertical. So it got me thinking, what other striped items for spring I could find that are actually flattering – and thankfully I found quite a few.
It seems like every spring, the racks fill with pastels and floral prints, and every magazine, blog and trend report trumpets the return of soft colors, girly styles like sundresses and relatively delicate jewelry and accessories.
All that is well and good if that’s your thing, but what about those of us who don’t really love looking like they just stepped out of high tea?
Kate Beckinsale proves heels, even while carrying your groceries are always chic! A jumpsuit is a spring essential. It is an easy piece to throw on because you don’t even have to worry if the top matches the bottom! This black and white printed Tart jumpsuit is a great copy of Beckinsale’s.
I have met so many women in the past 8+ years who have struggled with fertility issues like myself and while some are an open book – like I am – I know many are still very secretive or embarrassed about it, so this post is for you. You are not alone. Far from it.
Since I moved out to Long Island two years ago I have been looking for “my” gym, and I finally found it. Equinox. I came to Northern Long Island from Manhattan as a barre rat. I was taking barre classes at exhale 4-5 times per week for over two years. Prior to having my children I was a spinning instructor…
Recently a friend asked me what are some must-haves she should add to her wardrobe right now for Spring. I love these types of questions. What is the one top I told her she must get pronto? I realize this might sound boring, but the must-have top for spring ’16 is a brand new, crisp white cotton shirt.
We saw them all over the runway for spring 2016: soft, flowey, and slightly oversized belted overcoats reminiscent of the 80s. Do you remember these robe-like, slouchy midi coats? I immediately thought of Cybill Shepherd in Moonlighting or the oversized jackets on Miami Vice. The best part about these slouchy coats is that they hide what you are wearing underneath and give you a professional look in a flash.
Since I already waste so much watching reality TV such as the Housewives of Wherever I thought we should start recapping and discussing some of the fashions (and fashion tragedies) from some some of my favorites Housewives such as the upcoming RHONY and the new and probably sure to be unbelievably over-the-top Dallas. So stay tuned for recaps coming this April. If all goes well, we may also do The Bachelor/Bachelorette since I don’t usually watch it, but I know many of our readers do. I will be live Tweeting too so be sure to follow us.
Who really wants to go under the knife in the name of maintaining a youthful appearance? Not me. It’s not to say I wouldn’t consider it, but fillers have come such a long way, I don’t feel the need to run out and do anything drastic, painful and expensive. At least not yet. So when I heard of the non-surgical BaseLift developed and perfected by Dr. Bracci at Verve Medical Cosmetics I had to learn everything about it!
Some people think about what clothes, bags and shoes they want for spring as soon as the weather begins to change, and while of course I think of those, I immediately start planning what sunglasses I want for the summer! So clearly I already have some styles on my shortlist. Last year I was all about RayBan Aviators with mirrored…
Spring is nearly here and it’s time to think about updating our hair as well as our wardrobes! Sassoon Salon (where both Carol and I go for our cuts and color) recently launched their Spring/Summer 16 Collection named TORQUE which encourages us to change up our highlights and cuts. So what’s the trend this spring?
