The Spring 17 Collections from designers like Isabel Marant, Balenciaga, Rodarte and Kenzo channeled the glitz, glam and spirit of the 80s. These strong shouldered 80s looks were worn proudly on everyone at the time, and most memorably for me, on Linda Evans in her role as Crystal Carrington on the Dynasty TV series which encompassed that decade from 1981 to 1989.
Can’t stand all this gloom and cold either? Yeah, we know. We got a taste of the warm weather but it appears it didn’t hold out for very long, and now we’re all back in winter jackets for the time being. So, it can’t hurt to dream about hitting the beach, right? Maybe now we can think about future purchases for the 90 degree weather that will be here fairly soon.
I love homemade guacamole! If I can get it served tableside I’m in. But I never liked my own that much until I worked hard to master it. I like my guac chunky. In fact the chunkier the better! So without further ado here is how you can make guacamole that will make your friends envious! This recipe serves 4.…
I am a woman and I am a whiskey drinker. Well, I wasn’t always one but in the past 6 years or so I have really come to enjoy some bourbons and whiskeys. Especially American whiskies which tend to have a sweeter finish than Scottish and Irish whiskies which can be a little too peaty and bitter for me. One particular whiskey brand I adore is Hudson Whiskey. I’m sure you have seen the hip glass apothecary-style bottles at your favorite upscale urban restaurant or hipster watering hole. It’s now distributed internationally but is still a craft whiskey made lovingly at the original distillery in the Hudson Valley.

Since I discovered last fall that I have developed allergies to at least a dozen chemicals (many of which are found in beauty products) I have had to literally change everything in my life. That includes not only what I put on my face and body. but what I use on my hair. Now I use organic shampoos and conditioners.
For spring ’17 gingham has gone wild! The check print has taken on a whole new look. Thankfully, this is not your Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz gingham print. Instead you will find sculptural shapes, asymmetric gingham, mixed gingham prints, lace overlaying gingham, ruffled gingham, gingham with florals, even deconstructed gingham.
Yes, you read that correctly, we are taking it to the countryside this month with the super-hot prairie chic trend for the spring. Yes this can be a difficult style to pull off if you are over 35 (frankly, I don’t think I’ll be sporting this trend this year). However, this trend does have a playful and comfortable vibe that can span all ages if you keep it classy.
It’s spring so it’s time to go green! St. Patrick’s Day is less than two weeks away and let’s face it, on that day everybody is Irish! A bright kelly or emerald green is also a great sign that warmer days are just around the corner. So if you can rock the color now is the time!
You might associate spring break with high school and college kids going wild in Cancun or whatever the hot destination of choice is this year. And while, that’s a thing, grown women might deserve a spring break even more – and what’s better, we can do it in style.
One style of pant that seems to go in and out of style is wide leg trousers and guess what? They are back in again for Spring ’17. In fact they have been going in and out of style since the 40’s.
As you know some of my posts are inspired from what I am searching for and for spring/summer I am on the hunt for tops with exaggerated sleeves! I want them to be my signature style for spring. I’ve heard names like bell sleeves, trumpet sleeves and just jacked up long sleeves…but I want them ALL!
Ruffles are everywhere this spring! From shirts to skirts, and from jackets to pants, those wavy lines are adding new dimensions to blouses, tops, dresses, skirts, pants, coats and even jeans and sweatshirts. From girly and frilly to sophisticated and minimalist, there’s no doubt you will be eyeing a new piece with ruffles you will want to own.
Remember her days of blonde hair and bubblegum pop? Of cargo pants, skateboarders, and hair in messy knots? We noticed the celebrity style evolution of Mandy Moore.
In this Aging Parents episode Lauren and Joan discuss the harsh reality of watching your parent’s get older. In two words; it’s rough (I wanted to say “it sucks”). Witnessing your once vibrant parents become more fragile is tough stuff but something we all deal with by the time we reach our 40’s and 50’s…
