Overnight Beauty: How To Optimize Your Sleeping Time

We all spend at least one third of our lives sleeping so we might as well make sure our beauty rest pays off. There are definitely ways to optimize your sleeping time with overnight beauty tips that will help improve the condition of your skin and your hair. Plus you’ll wake up feeling like you’re at a spa, which is always a good thing in our book!

So how do you make the most out of getting your beauty sleep? It all starts with the right prep before you hit the sheets. Here are some of our favorite tips for making sure that you get the most out of your time asleep…

Overnight Beauty: Optimize Your Sleeping Time

Overnight Beauty Silk Pillowcase
Slip Silk Pillowcase, queen $89 or king $110
Mulberry Silk Sleep Cap
Zimasilk 100% Mulberry Silk Sleep Cap, $20.99
Long Satin Bonnet Sleep Cap
Alnorm Long Satin Bonnet Sleep Cap – Double Layer, Soft Elastic Band, $18.99

Protecting Your Hair

If you have curly or textured hair or just want to extend the life of your blowout, sleeping on a silk pillowcase (we love the 100% mulberry silk ones by Slip Silk) or better yet with a silk sleeping cap like this from Zima Silk or this one from Alnorm if you have longer hair (both available from Amazon) is the way to do it. Mulberry silk also has anti-aging properties – it doesn’t pull moisture from your skin like cotton or poly blends do, since your skin and hair can literally “slide” on the pillowcase if you’re tossing and turning at night.

Overnight Beauty Touch Screen Moisturizing Gloves
Codream Touch Screen Gel Moisturizing Spa Gloves and Socks Set, $17.99

Moisturizing Your Hands

Sleeping with moisturizing gloves on can be a great way to help your hands recover from all the hand-washing that we are doing these days, and these gloves by Codream (available via Amazon) actually have touch screen fingertips so you can still scroll through your social media or play games on your phone while you try to fall asleep.

Overnight Beauty 2 Soothing Spa Socks
Dr. Scholl’s Women’s 2 Pack Soothing Spa Low Cut Lavender + Vitamin E Socks with Silicone Treads, $10.70

And Your Feet

Wearing moisturizing socks to sleep is a great way to make up for the lack of professional pedicures in all of our lives right now. These Dr. Scholl’s socks have vitamin E and lavender oils which makes them ideal for improving the condition of your feet while you sleep. That said, any heavy duty moisturizing cream plus a pair of thick socks can do the job if you want to DIY it.

Watermelon Overnight Face Mask
Trader Joe’s Watermelon Overnight Face Mask, $6.99
Overnight Beauty Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Mask
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Mask, $36
LANEIGE Lavender Water Sleeping Mask
LANEIGE Lavender Water Sleeping Mask, $25

Use A Mask Overnight

While sleeping with a sheet mask on sounds challenging, there are some masks that are meant to be worn overnight, like the perfectly summery Trader Joe’s overnight watermelon mask. You can also go ultra-luxe with the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydration mask if your skin needs some serious TLC, or try the relaxing lavendar water sleeping mask from Laneige if you could use an escape to Provence for the night.

Slip Pure Silk Sleeping Mask, $50

Prevent Fine Lines

Wearing a silk sleep mask may seem a little over the top, but mulberry silk can help to prevent fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes from developing (plus they are great if you want to nap during sunlight hours). The sleeping masks from Slip have an old Hollywood glamour to them. Coordinate them with your sleeping cap or bonnet and pillowcase for the ultimate luxurious bedtime routine.
