My Instant Silhouette InstaLift Facelift

Yes, I went there and you are going there too! I have video below. A few months ago I got a Silhouette InstaLift. What’s that? It’s basically an in-office lower face lift that was FDA-cleared in April 2015. I was not happy with the bottom half of my face. It was starting to head south (as was my neck) but like a lot of women I will try just about anything before going under the knife. I want to put that off as long as humanly possible. Sagging facial skin is one of the major contributors to an aged and tired appearance. Silhouette InstaLift is a minimally-invasive procedure that redefines the contours of your face by lifting the deeper layers of your skin for a more youthful look.

I went to Dr. Peredo (whom I trust) at Skinfluence In NYC to try this fairly new procedure. It’s also the prefect option for those who don’t want to deal with the ongoing maintenance required with injectables three to four times a year and it costs about one forth of a traditional facelift.

So let’s recap; less money, no surgery, no downtime, in-office procedure, immediate results and looks natural. Sounds good? Read on.

So What Is Silhouette InstLift in Layman’s Terms?

Silhouette InstaLift is a minimally-invasive procedure that redefines the contours of your face by lifting the deeper layers of your skin for a more youthful look. Silhouette InstaLift procedure gives women (and even men) a safe and effective solution to restore the facial sagging without surgery. While wrinkles, brown spots and lost volume can be treated with current anti-aging methods, there hasn’t been a minimally invasive method for lifting sagging skin and the underlying tissue available until now.

This easy, in-office procedure helps increase volume while restoring the contours of the mid-face and cheek areas gradually and naturally. The physician lifts the deeper layers of the skin. The treatment is done with local anesthesia and only takes about 45 minutes to complete. Results will be visible immediately and improve over a three-month time span, with lasting lifting effects for up to a few years.

Resorbable suspension sutures with bi-directional cones are threaded into each side of the face just under the ear to the jaw. The sutures lift and reposition subdermal (deep) tissue while the bi-directional cones hold the suture and facial skin in an elevated position. The suture and cone material are both made of glycolide/L-lactide (PLGA) which is well tolerated by the body. Over time they stimulate fibroblasts for gradual collagen growth (which we lose as we age) and are designed to reposition volume in the mid-face with a goal of a natural looking result (not that overblown chipmunk cheek look you see from too much filler).

You may be wondering if Silhouette InstaLift is different than Thread Lifts and the answer is yes. Silhouette InstaLift is an entirely new technology and treatment. Rather than just repositioning the skin, the focus of this procedure is on the underlying layers of the skin because that is what really causes sagging. Another important advantage is that the sutures are not permanent; they are absorbed by the body over time. As they are absorbed, they stimulate collagen renewal, which helps achieve a lasting, natural look.

Silhouette InstaLift is only performed by qualified physicians who have undergone special comprehensive training. So please make sure the doctor you see has been trained in this specific procedure. Do your homework and research. The cost of an Silhouette InstaLift is insignificant if the wrong doctor is performing it.

MY Silhouette InstaLift Experience

I went to Dr. Peredo’s office to have the procedure back in March having only done minimal research since I did not want to freak myself out. I knew some threads with bio-directional cones were going to be threaded into the lower half of my face, but that’s about all I knew. Yet I have been to Dr. Peredo before and completely trust her and was fairly relaxed, until I saw the instruments.

I felt tugging inside my face-  which felt a little odd – when Dr. Peredo “pulled the strings’, but it did not hurt. Then again, my face was pretty numb. When she was finished with both sides of my face I felt tighter. And the tightness lasted (and hurt a bit) for about 3 days. The next day I could not laugh or eat a big sandwich (not that I ever would). You really can’t open your mouth too wide. After three days any discomfort is completely gone.

Now I have to admit since my neck was really bothering me (sagging a bit) I was hoping it would have a lifting effect on that area, but InstaLift is not FDA cleared for the neck at the moment…but when it is I am going back! Are you ready to see my Silhouette InstaLift on YouTube?

    • Sure. It took a day or two before I looked 100% back to normal. Truth is with a little extra makeup I could have gone out to dinner that same night. The only recovery was the aching I felt (Motrin helped) where the threads were pulled, but that only lasted about 3 days. There really isn’t any real down time. You could literally do this at the end of the business day and be at work the next day.
