Looks for Less: Step into Spring with Mules and Low Block Heels

Shhh, listen- can you hear that? It’s the sounds of birds chirping in the morning! Spring is in the air and daylight savings is finally on our side with more light in the evenings. Sunset cocktails anyone? While I may be getting a little ahead of myself (we did get snow this week in both New York and Chicago after all!), it’s never too early to browse your favorite brand’s looks for spring and start strategizing your wardrobe. For shoes, I’m loving mules and low-block heels for many different reasons.

As a practical dresser who shopped too much in her earlier years, I have accumulated a ton of heels I don’t necessarily wear them on a daily basis, and as a more casual dresser, I have amassed an impressive sneaker collection. Looking for something new and fresh can be difficult for me, and this style of shoes seem to fit my wardrobe really well!

As with any versatile shoe, mules and low block heels look just as good in the office worn with a shirtdress as they do paired with a luxe pair of joggers strolling around eating ice cream post dinner. They’re comfy and ideal for traveling – they slip on and off easily while still managing to look polished. In a way, this is kind of an extension of the Gucci loafer trend- but way less out-there and a bit easier to incorporate into everyday outfits for busy schedules when you need a no-brainer pair of shoes to slip into as you’re sprinting out the door to school drop-off.

Looks for Less

ASOS has a whimsical pair of beautiful burgundy velvet mules featuring an adorable bee motif, these would be a great pair to wear while transitioning into warmer weather. For sunnier days, this unconventional jelly pair of mules from Jeffrey Campbell comes in crisp, bright colors and uses interesting materials. These would be adorable for a family barbecue or Saturday mornings at the farmer’s market.

These elegant low-block heels from Topshop are amazing. They are ideal for both fancy and casual occasions, and the cap toe is adorable. Imagine how chic these would be paired with boyfriend-style jeans and a soft knit top? They are feminine without being over-the-top girly because of the texture and muted color. If you’re looking for a versatile shoe, look no further than these loafer mules from Free People. They’re high quality and come in a variety of colors, both neutral and bright metallic hues. The snakeskin-like texture is great option too!

Lastly, these adorably unique tasseled mules from Anthropologie are excellent for springtime. They’re quirky and would class up any outfit- try pairing them with a mid-length skirt or pair of crisp white pants. They are a little more of a splurge when it comes to looks for less, but I think they’re worth it, and Anthro has other variations and colors as well. Happy shoe shopping!
