Carmen Marc Valvo is synonymous with sophistication and class and his Fall’15 Collection at New York Fashion Week didn’t stray. This year however, he added a fresh twist showing pieces with a younger and modern flair. The collection featured men’s and women’s wear in the form of separates, suiting and formal evening attire. The silhouettes were slimmer cut and tailored to perfection while still catering to the mature clientele who may desire something classy but with a bit of an edge.
The colors and textiles demonstrated a playful nod to the schoolyard with lots of rich blacks and stark whites paired with gray, red and tartan patterns. Thoughtfully placed sequins was sprinkled throughout, being featured on many of the evening attire in tartan patterns and adding further depth to some key black pieces. Gray, white and red abstract print textiles serving as the medium for several pieces looked almost strategically hand painted. Flowing midi and full length skirts featured classic knife pleats and sheer button front shirts shared the runway with tailored men’s suiting pieces including slacks, waistcoats and dinner jackets. Outerwear was also a key component in the collection, which was constructed from fur and featured bold geometric patterns.
Key looks in the collection featured a black cashmere sweater with sequins windowpane pattern, a gray fur coat with bracelet length sleeves, a full length tartan print silk skirt, a silk gold full length evening gown with black collar and wide black belt, and black silk culottes paired with a tartan print slim fit blazer.
