Menswear Styling: The Most “Now” Trend Of The Season

We love some good menswear styling, and it’s a great look for fall in general. If you’re a fan, you’re in luck this year. All things reminiscent of impeccably tailored suits, heritage patterns, dress shoes and more are some of the most “now” styles of the season for women.

Menswear Styling: Borrowing From The Guys

Saville Row

All the traditional menswear fabrics are having a moment. So if herringbone, houndstooth, windowpane check, birdseye, tattersall, and any kind of stripes are your thing, this is your season to shine. Any well established suiting fabric works! Try something with a crisp cut like this Veronica Beard tonal plaid jacket or something slouchier and boyish like this Isabel Marant wool plaid.

Structured Coats

Big, oversize coats can look sloppy, but the latest versions have more than enough structure to keep them looking intentional. (This is the key word when you’re doing oversized looks). It’s a tough style to pull off, but it’ll keep you warm, cozy, and happy on those cold winter days. This Edition10 camel coat is a forever classic, and this light grey Theory jacket looks like you borrowed your man’s wool blazer in the best possible way.

Serious Tailoring

Do you fondly recall the power suits of the 80s? They’re back and bolder than ever, and a bit more refined as well. Statement shoulders, nipped waists (no boxy jackets!), long lines, and interesting lapel or pocket details define this trend. This super-cinch Theory blazer is just about perfect, and it would work with everything from skinny jeans or cigarette pants to wide legs or pencil skirts. This gray herringbone Rebecca Taylor jacket is more formal and super sharp.

Dress Shoes

Why should guys be the only ones who get to wear elegant – and comfortably flat – dress shoes? Patent loafers like these from Halogen look ideal with tailored looks, and they can dress up skinny pants, jeans, and wide leg crops with ease.

Oversize Watches

Whether your watch is an actual men’s watch (and why not? Some of the men’s styles are amazing) or a lady’s watch that’s more oversize, you shouldn’t feel the need to stick to something dainty. This Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph watch is to die for and the more casual Shinola watches like the Canfield Sport work well for both men and women.

The keys to making this look work, and not just like you borrowed your dude’s clothes, is precise tailoring, luxurious materials, and a few more feminine touches like a silk scarf or your favorite jewelry. Classic pieces like diamond studs, pearls, station necklaces, and single bangles all work as well as more architectural statement pieces. It just depends on what “suits” your style.

Are you as excited to wear the menswear trend as I am?
