Swimsuit Makeup: How To Look Beautiful At The Beach

I asked my beauty Guru Lauren Dimet Waters what kind of makeup we should be wearing at the beach or the pool. The goal? An effortless, sun kissed look with plenty of sun protection. I told her I was heading to Harmon (if you don’t have one it’s like the best beauty drugstore married an Ulta), and requested her list of must-have items and brands. Here’s how to look beautiful at the beach. She suggested a simple shopping list: BB cream with SPF, a mineral powder with SPF, waterproof mascara, blush or bronzer, something lightweight for the eyebrows and lip balm or gloss with SPF. Lauren loves, loves, loves Physicians Formula anything. So good to know! Thanks Lauren for the intel. Check out my findings below.

Oh by the way, my daughter Maya is a huge beauty buff already (at the ripe old age of almost 16) so she tagged along with me for the shopping spree and also tried on all of the products. We were very pleased with the results! Thank you Lauren for giving us a poolside makeup routine!

WHAT’S  BB CREAM ANYWAY?

BB creams, or beauty balms, are daily moisturizers with skin-perfecting coverage built right in to deliver multiple benefits in one product. A lovely sales associate at Harmon told us that the Garnier SkinActive BB Cream is a best seller. So we grabbed one and let me tell you, I’m so glad we did. It’s super easy to apply and makes your skin look flawless. You can get it for $12.99. We are hooked!

AIRBRUSH MY FACE PLEASE

The Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Pressed Powder (13.99) is heaven. It gives your skin an airbrushed look without being overdone. Plus it has legit SPF 30 protection.

KISS ME

You only need two lip products for the rest of the summer. And they’re both from Neutrogena: the Revitalizing Lip Balm in Sunny Berry with SPF 20 is under $8. The MoistureShine Lip Soother in Glaze 60 is basically an amazing lip gloss you can also wear alone or paired with your lip balm (SPF 20).  And it’s under $6!

DON’T FORGET YOUR MASCARA

If there’s one item you don’t want to forget here, it’s your mascara. A great waterproof mascara will give you just enough definition without the need to wear eyeshadow and liner. We kind of fell in love with the Get Big Lashes Volume Boost Waterproof Mascara from Essence, $3.99. You’re welcome!

THE EXTRAS…

So these are certainly not a requirement, but for a more finished-unfinished look, grab Loreal’s Brow Stylist Prep & Shape Pro Kit ($15) in case your brows need a lift and Elf’s Natural Glow Face Palette in Fresh & Flawless ($8) for that bronzed look.

IN CONCLUSION

Maya and I got everything on Lauren’s list (plus the extras) for about $70. Not bad! Now, time for you to hustle to the pool or the beach, summer will be over faster than you can say BB Cream…
