Sophisticated Loungewear for Daytime Looks for Less

It’s no secret we’ve all been doing a lot more lounging lately. Even though you’re staying at home, you don’t have to feel like a slob. There are tons of options to pull together like these chic, comfy loungewear for daytime looks for less. These pieces look expensive because of the sophisticated details they feature, like ribbed knits, tiny buttons or contrasting piped trim, but they’re not. I encourage you to make the most of your time at home and wear some key pieces to feel good and look pulled together!

Comfortable, Relaxed Sweaters

In many places, the springtime weather is cold one day and warm the next. For the chillier days, I love pulling on a fuzzy sweater. I adore this neutral sweater from ASOS; the ribbed finish, relaxed fit and fun sleeves are perfect to wear while working from home. You’ll be very comfortable and look extra put together during your Zoom meetings.

If you have pets, the only downside to these sweaters is lint rolling off the hair afterwards because it seems to stick more than usual. (My cats have become extra attached lately and insist on sitting on my lap half the time they’re awake!)

Flared Pants for Spring

Over the years, I’ve amassed a few fun pairs of comfy, flared pants for spring. This season, this olive green pair from Topshop caught my eye. These are perfect for wearing around the house because they’re way more comfortable than jeans. You can simply pull them on and no zipper is needed.

I like the ribbed finish on these too, which is definitely a trend right now. Around this time last year, I wore pants like this to the first Cubs game of the year; this April I wore fun, flared pants like this while drinking wine and binge watching Mindy Kaling created shows. Oh, how times change!

Cropped Joggers

For the woman taking her quarantine walks and exercise seriously, a pair of cropped joggers for spring is essential. This pair from Gap is flattering and comes in five different colors. (I definitely need to take a page out of their book!)

T-Shirt Dresses

I prefer t-shirt dresses for casual, warm weather days because they’re effortless. Lounging at home is no different! Pull on a sophisticated, t-shirt dress and you’ll look extra pulled together with zero effort. Plus, after the shelter in place rules are eventually lifted, you can wear this dress from Topshop all summer with sandals or sneakers.

Layering Tank Tops

Not to be TMI, but one thing I’ve enjoyed lately is wearing more comfortable options for undergarments. This ribbed knit tank top available on Amazon is inexpensive and comes in 14 different colors! You can layer a tank like this under a relaxed sweater or sweatshirt for maximum comfort.

Pajama Loungewear Looks

H&M has some great affordable satin pajama loungewear looks that could easily be mixed and matched. They’re so cute you might even wear them in the daytime. There’s a feminine lavender camisole and cropped pants look and a light sage green button down and shorts set. I love the buttons on the camisole and the contrasting pink piped trim detail on the green pajama set.

How to Style Loungewear for Daytime

To style loungewear for daytime you basically mix what is typically considered loungewear or even pajamas with streetwear. Here are some examples.

1.  Mix the ASOS sweater with a pair of pajama bottoms and wear a denim or leather jacket over it for a street-ready look.

2. Wear the H&M sage green piped pajama top with comfortable boyfriend or wide leg jeans and a belt. You will still be comfortable for lounging, yet will still look pulled together and dressed for your day.

3. Layer a long cardigan over the lavender H&M cami and pants loungewear set and slip on some slide shoes or ankle booties. You will look street-chic enough to run an errand or walk the dog.

  1. I work from home and do a lot of video calls, I am always looking for loungewear bottoms to stay comfortable – and nobody sees! On top is a little “more” professional – these are very nice – great for weekend wear while we are all stuck at home too!
