Get The Look for Less: Dark, Moody Florals for Fall

Autumn is right around the corner! The air will get crisper before you know it and it will be time to break out your deep green pieces, lug soled boots and Victorian inspired tops. These are just a few of fall’s top trends we have already begun to cover on Fountain Of 30. One trend I’m excited about is dark florals for fall. It’s not as obvious as florals for spring (yes, I know… groundbreaking) but it’s really still breathtaking. Dark floral prints can add a little or quite a lot of color and interest to your fall looks.

You will find dark florals prints of all sizes, from tiny prints to oversize. And the colors can range from subtle tone on tone shades to super bright pops of color on a dark background. Even better, you don’t have to spend a ton of money on his trend. You can find a lot of very affordable pieces to incorporate into your wardrobe.

Dark Florals for Fall Runway Inspiration

Moody, dark florals were all over the FW’19 runways including Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli, Marc Jacobs, Peter Pilotto and Oscar De La Renta. You can find similar colors and patterns in stores now to get this dark fall floral look for less.

Tailored Floral Tops

In my opinion, this floral top from Topshop perfectly embodies this moody floral trend. It’s an effortless way to incorporate dark florals into your look without being overly feminine or sweet. Its simple, tailored silhouette will keep your outfit balanced. It will look chic paired with flattering black pants and a swipe of dark lipstick.

Edwardian Floral Blouses

This sheer sleeve blouse from Nordstrom would be a welcome addition to your office appropriate wardrobe. It also incorporates the Edwardian and Victorian inspired romantic trend. Just like the last top, pair this blouse with sleek accessories to showcase the blouse and keep the look modern and pulled together.

Cozy Cardigans for Fall

If you are looking for an effortless and versatile way to work this trend into your wardrobe, this cardigan from Anthropologie is a really easy way to do it. It’s not obviously floral and can be easily mixed and matched with other patterns, after all it’s a great combination of floral and leopard print. Plus it looks so cozy and soft!

Fall Floral Shirt Dress

This funky shirt dress from ASOS can be worn now with sandals or sneakers, or later in the season with tights and booties! Its flattering tie waist works well with many body types, and the fresh, unique pattern will be in style for multiple seasons. This is an inexpensive investment for a dress you’ll wear over and over.

Casual Florals for Fall

Florals can be an easy way to dress up relaxed pieces for fall. This hoodie from Levi’s (yes, I said hoodie, hear me out…) will elevate and dress up your workout attire. Picture it with black leggings. Its punchy floral print makes a statement and looks upscale without you doing any work.

How To Wear Florals In Fall

Here are a few easy tips on how to wear florals in fall 2019.

1. Pair your floral print pieces with sleek accessories to keep your ensemble from looking too girly. Keep it balanced!

2. For a maximum moody effect, simple beauty details go a long way. Wear fall florals with a dark, matte manicure or berry colored lipstick.

3. Style your hair sleek and modern. Wear your hair down or in a chic topknot. Wearing a braided hairstyle with florals might make you resemble Heidi too much!

4. Pair moody florals with rugged lug soled boots and you will perfectly nail two of the top trends of the fall season!
