You can set your calendar by it. Every winter, velvet pieces come out and they are usually holiday-festive and meant for evening occasions. And that’s great. But we’re here to tell you that you can and should wear velvet during the day this winter. In fact, it’s totally on trend this year. Here’s how to wear velvet in the day time.
Blazers And Jackets
Velvet can add a touch of luxury to any outfit. For instance, you could throw this jacket on over jeans and a tee or button-down and look casually sophisticated, or you could use it as a topper over a cocktail dress or jumpsuit. Palazzo Pants

Booties
Try something different this season and buy your standard booties in a new fabric and color. We’re coveting this Yves St. Laurent ruby-hued pair, but you can find the look at all price points. For instance, Kenneth Cole offers these blue ankle boots with a chunky heel, or these black Daya by Zendaya lace-up booties give us a bit of a Victorian vibe.
T-Shirts
Nothing’s more of an everyday basic than a tee, but doing it in velvet adds a certain something. Bonus points for the nineties redux aspect if you go for crushed velvet like this Vince Camuto tee.
Clearly, you don’t need to wait for the sun to go down to wear velvet. Why not add a bit of elegance and lot of texture to your winter looks this year?
