Hot Color Combo: Bright Pink and Red

During a season when pink is always expected, this spring try to kick it up a notch. The bold color combination of hot pink with intense red was shown by designers like Oscar de la Renta, Narciso Rodriguez and Herve Leger. The more vivid the colors, the better. That’s how to wear bright pink and red the modern way. We are not talking about light pink with burgundy red, but fuchsia pink and candy apple red. This pink and red combo looks like a delightful box of foil wrapped chocolates. You can find dresses and color-blocked handbags “ready made” in this dynamic color duo, or you can do-it-yourself with separates and accessories.

How to wear bright pink and red

What makes the combo work is to play with textures and contrast. For example try a red cotton dress with hot pink suede shoes or metallic shoes, or a shiny satin fuchsia skirt with a matte red top and red shoes, too. I like the idea of keeping a monochromatic look of pink and red from head to toe! Or you may opt for neutral or black shoes. If you put the look together you won’t have to spend as much money on the trend as you would on a designer dress, and you can tone down your red or pink pieces and wear them again with your jeans or with a simple t-shirt. Because, let’s face it, you may not always want to draw so much attention.

Go for it! You’re an adult and you can break the rules. Try bright pink and red. That’s right, put those clashing colors together.
