How To Style A Teddy Bear Coat High vs Low

Style A Teddy Bear Coat

The bitter chill is in the air in many parts of the country. It’s time to get that super cozy and on-trend teddy bear coat you’ve been coveting. Yes, you can get the original from Max Mara and your investment will be well-served since this coat has become a classic. It looks like fur but it’s wool! Or you can find many furry copycat versions of the teddy bear coat. Here is one way to style a teddy bear coat at two very different price points. Spend a lot of money on high-end designer pieces or get the entire look for less. Another option (this is my favorite) is to save on a few of the pieces and go high low with your styling. I always say invest in the classics.

Pick and choose from these pieces to get the look above. You can decide where to go high or low!

Style A Teddy Bear Coat High vs Low

The Teddy Bear Coat

Start with the coat! This Max Mara Ginnata Teddy Bear Icon Faux Fur Coat, $3,590 is beautiful. I love this neutral warm grey color they call Turtledove. Super warm and plush, this coat has interesting twisted seam detailing on the sleeves and is made of an lpaca, wool and silk blend. However, if you may not wear it very much or don’t have a spare $3,590, you can get this Sosken Gita Teddy Coat for only $395 in a similar color. This coat is a very nice knock-off with its high pile fabric (you’ll see some cheapy ones out there) and it is available in sizes 0 – 16W.

The Basic Black Turtleneck

Nothing shows off a light colored coat better than a black base! If you don’t own a cashmere turtleneck one like this TSE Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater, $435 is a must-have. Cashmere lasts a long time and is extremely warm. On the flip side, you can pick up a black Gap Turtleneck Sweater in Merino Wool for only $59.95.

Leather Jeans For Slick Contrast

You may have leather jeans but do you have a high waist skinny style pair? Invest in these Habitual Salena High Rise Leather Pants for $748 or go low with these AGOLDE Roxanne Faux Leather High Waist Ankle Skinny Pants, $198. I love how smooth leather contrasts with the plush teddy bear coat.

The Studded Bag

Brighten up an all black ensemble with shiny studs on your accessories! The perfect size and shape of this Valentino Garavani Rockstud Leather Single-Handle Satchel, $2,295 is a safe investment. It also has a shoulder strap! But, you can also grab this ASOS Pull&bear Studded Top Handle Crossbody Bag for only $44, and save your money for some of the other pieces in this ensemble.

Western Style Boots

Add more hardware, texture and style with Western heel ankle booties. These Chloé Rylee Cutout Glossed-leather Ankle Boots are a cult favorite and for $1,390 at least you can wear them year-round. Or, you can get these ASOS DESIGN Rhythmic Premium Leather Western Lace Up Boots for only $127, and they are real leather, too, so they won’t kill your feet.
