How To Get The Junk Out of Your Jewelry Trunk

In the spirit of de-cluttering and simplifying my life, I’ve been sorting through my closet, storage boxes and desk at work and doing a major overhaul. Who needs three issues of the same Vogue or old, broken sandals that will never be worn again taking up space? Not me. Even though my jewelry has always been sentimental and special to me, I’m forcing myself to go through that too. Here’s how to get the junk out of your jewelry trunk!

It’s fine to have a few pieces of trendy, poorly made jewelry, but not years and years worth. Decluttering my baubles and trinkets has better allowed me to beautifully display my more meaningful pieces (trust me, I am not throwing those away!) and they will be more easily accessible for me to throw on when I’m running out the door.

In terms of safely displaying your jewelry and ensuring there are no tangles, I picked up this subtly sophisticated jewelry tray from Umbra. Its fabric lined bottom is easy on jewelry and the contrasting brass geometrical shape is easy on the eyes.

My favorite place to buy simple, high quality pieces of jewelry on a budget is Etsy. I love this circular initial necklace – it’s perfect for everyday wear and makes a great gift too! It looks beautiful worn alone or layered with other necklaces, and you can add up to five disks with different letters. If you’re in the market for a custom engraved piece, this delicate rose gold cuff, also from Etsy, is the perfect fit! The gorgeous hue glows on your wrist when it catches the light and compliments many different skin tones.

Watches are always a chic addition to any outfit, and Vince Camuto’s watches are good quality at a low price point. (I’ve worn mine every day for over three years now!) This one features different metals that are very versatile. I was surprised to find this gorgeous watch from Swarovski on sale! Its sparkly face and crystals are complemented by a thin gold band and would be the perfect addition to most ensmebles. It also comes in a turquoise color at that price!

Hopefully you’re inspired to organize and purge your old jewelry, and pick up some meaningful jewelry for less this year!
